I get this noise coming from either the engine bay or the tranny at exactly 3000 rpm in all gears! i think it happens when i'm in neutral too. the noise sounds like...metal vibrating or something. any ideas!?

 

hm...i have a guess. could it be the heatshield that i put on with my injen CAI? that thing is bolted on with two bolts on top of the factory heat shield so i'm guessing maybe at 3000 rpm, there's some resonance that makes it vibrate against the factory heat shield and cause the chattering noise.

any CAI owners with the same problem??

 

Try removing the heat shield in order to determine if that is the cause. If this noise only started after you installed the CAI, then this is most likely culprit. At least you better hope so... Good luck.
