Is this the reason for the so called "back-order" on the Bridgestone tire.

My guess is the Caster adjustment fix won't be available till late August to early September.

Well the big Wigs from Nissan Canada will be down next week to take my car for a spin they are having a difficult time on trying to get the right alignment setting.
We fixed the tire wear but created a bigger problem car does not handle well all over the road and dangerous to drive over 120km. Be careful guys on ther tire recall they will change your alignment settings....Good Luck all! Vin

well i just got back from getting my 2nd set of replacement tires. the service manager has said that there is speculation that nissan will come out with adjustable suspension parts for the 05 models as opposed to our partly fixed ones. he said it would not surprise him if nissan does not fix the 03 and 04 models. oh well...nissan...you suck a$$!!!

new to this site, and happy it exists. i've owned my 350Z since Dec 2003 and I have nightmare after nightmare with this car. It has 20,000 miles.

1st, the right window broke in the down position: repaired free.

2nd, tire roar was killing me: new tires thanks to notice

3rd, couldn't shift into 3rd gear smoothly: whole transmission replaced under warranty

4th, cruise control abruptly ceased working: Awaiting to take her in

5th, now 2nd gear is ***** to shift into: Awaiting to take her in next week

6th, somehow cabin noize increased 20db overnight: Awaiting to take her

7th, the driver side lower back panal in front of the tire is no longer flush with the body, its about 2mm popped out: awaiting to take her in

I feel like I got lemon, or this car was not ready for mass production yet. And you know what, the dealers friggin hate me at this point, but for $33,000 and while she's under warranty, they can look my pretty mug everyday until this ALL THIS CRAP is done right. Anyone have laundry list of problems with there 350Z?

Question Alignment?

I'm a new roadster owner (1500 miles) and have been reading alot of the tire feathering problems. Some mention has been made of build dates. Has anyone found a cutoff date as to when this problem has been (supposedly) fixed by Nissan? So far no pulling to the right, tire roar or feathering. I may be imagining things but I feel the car steering wanders a bit after hitting a good bump at speed. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that did much the same and it was an alignment/toe problem..Mine was built 5/04. Or am a I a disgruntled Z owner waiting to happen?

Looks like lemon law time. Do your research, get a lawyer, get your money back, and buy a better z. Sorry about your awful experience with this usually awesome car.

Default My front tire wear solution (so far so good)

This is my first post. I own an 03' touring AT. The front tire thing has also driven me crazy. I am still waiting on a new front set (and drivers window regulator) from the dealer (3 months to date).

I run the stock 17" wheels. I purchased an additional complete set of stock (new take-off) wheels and tires on Ebay. I put the new back wheels and tires on the front so I am running the same size all the way around. I had the toe set to the newest TSB maximum of 2mm and love the results. The car handles much better with the bigger meat up front. I look at the tires everyday and I have seen no immediate evidence of "scrubbing" as I did on the second original set. There are no interference issues with running these tires on the front that I have noticed/detected.

3000 miles now and she is quiet as a mouse and no evidence of scrubbing/abnormal wear. Also I can now rotate the tires front to back and back to front (on the same side).

The alignment print-out did suggest an extreme castor angle (which is non-adjustable from the factory). I have new upper control arms and strut plates coming from Kmac as additional insurance. I will be able to adjust camber as well as castor with the addition of the new parts.

As soon as the dealer calls with my new tires and window regulator, I am going to put the old front wheels back on, go to the dealer collect the new front rubber and not let them touch the current toe setting.

My .02

My 2nd time in. They are pro-rating a set of front tires and re-alighning with "04 specs." Bas-tards, it's costing me $288 for a set of tires. It will make it that much easier to Lemon Law the chumps.

Got the car back yesterday, 2 new Pilot's and "new spec" alignment....No Charge. I am happy about them not charging and am hoping the Michellins wear better. Also of interest I noted on the reciept that they entered "per Bulliten" I was not aware of any TSB for the 2004's.

It could be in reference to a 2003 bulletin.

I just looked it up. There is no 2004 bulletin on the tires. My dealer did find a way to get me a free set of Pilots though.

Not sure....when I went in the dealer had no clue what I was talking about but he found the 2003 bulletin at the time and went off that and ordered my tires once they got approval. When I went in he said he had the bulletin for the 2004. Maybe he was just blowing smoke...? They did pay for my tires and the allignment.

Why are people having Multiple alignments done?? are they just not aligning it properly or is it coming out of alignment?

We have sold tons of Zs and have had no problems. I agree there is some tire roar but I haven't seen any feathering.

I don't see how Nissan has done anything wrong if you have a problem with a dealership then be specific, because most people complain because they have read in a forum that Nissan is required to give new tires.

So in your expert opinion, what causes this tire roar? Answer feathering! You cannot acknowledge tire roar and not feathering. THEY ARE THE SAME FREAKING ISSUE! MORON!

Do you think owners should have to pay to fix their sports cars that sound like trucks? I think Nissan needs to fix the problem. And you need to get your facts straight.

Have you called anyone with the Z you sold them and asked if their tires roar? I suspect most people don't notice that tire roar creeping up on them. Just because you and your customers are ignorant to the problems, does not mean they don't exist.

Have a great day, stop talking about things you know nothing about.

One reason is because Nissan keeps saying that the alignment is the cause, so they just keep screwing around with the alignment (which amounts to playing with the toe-in only). They aren't coming out of alignment. They can't be aligned properly because the only parameter that is adjustable is the toe. Camber and caster are fixed.

If the tires roar, then they're feathered. If you're looking at the tires, don't just check the outside shoulder. Check the inside too, because if the front is toed out then the 'feathering' will develop on the inside shoulder rather than the outside.

If you don't see how Nissan has done anything wrong, then you don't know what's been going on. Its a long story, but to sum it up....Nissan will apparently do anything to avoid fixing the inherent problem with the front end of the Z. I personally have been lied to by dealers (yes, that is separate from Nissan), I've been lied to by Nissan, and Nissan has lied to the BBB about my car and the problem in general.

Like Nissan, you seem to suggest that the problem is that the car isn't aligned properly. In reality, a large portion of these cars cannot be aligned such that the problem is alleviated. Nissan has aligned my car four times, every time on a properly calibrated Hunter alignment rack, and every time the alignment is "right". The last time it was aligned, a specialist from NNA did the work and its still f'ed up. Four hundred miles and the problem is already returning on their newly designed tires. What a joke.
