I have several stress cracks on both of my headlights. I took the car to the dealer for service, and they said because I splice in the wire in the back for front corner light, then it void the warranty.

The reason is when they send the headlights back to Nissan for inspection, they send back everything including the wireharness and the bulbs.. If Nissan sees the wires has been temper with, then they void the warranty.

has anyone have their headlights replaced under warranty?

can wire splicing really void the warranty?

 

I had mine replaced and they do replace the entire housing with bulbs not sure about the harness, I would think they couldn't void the warranty since the splicing should have nothing to do with the cracks.

What I found out after my initial dealer dragged their feet on replacing them and went to another where they replaced them without question is that some dealers are on warranty watch and are looked at closer than other dealers so those will be more hesitant to replace things that Nissan might kick back as they would have to pay plus maybe incurr an audit in which they will lose more. I would try another dealer and see.

try another dealership maybe ? even though most of the dealerships Ive called or dealt with suck about the same

 

I have about 29k miles right now, I will wait until 34k, then try another dealership. thanks!
