Question Has anyone had the clutch bearing or rough idle problems actually fixed by dealer???

The throwout bearing noise and rough idle on my car is getting louder and louder. The clutch bearing is the problem where you have the clutch in its quiet, you have it out and it makes a grinding noise. The rough idle problem Ive had since I brought the car home, when its sitting idling, it makes "popping" type noises every 2-3 seconds. Its pretty embarrassing when someone checks out your car and it sounds like $hit.

I have been leary of taking it in to the dealer because 1) i dont trust these guys and 2) i dont want to get it back with more problems than it had going in. Has anyone taken the car in for these problems and actually had them fixed? Or am I going to hear "thats normal"

Thanks!!!

Next time I go to the dealer I'm going to ask them to bump up my idle 100 rpms, I notice with the air or heat on the idle goes up about 50-125 rpms and the car is much smoother at that point, so I just want it there all the time, if it doesn't work they can change it back

hmm, i have noticed this in my g35 coupe too. Usually its pretty quiet, but one time the noise was pretty loud. It was a very faint grinding sound.

If I drive it hard, then pull it into my garage, and crack the window, it is very loud clanging noises, if I depress the clutch, it all goes away, then release the clutch, its all back, this goes on for a few minutes (2-4mins) then it goes away and it settles down.. Its easy for me to reproduce it for the dealer, however I don't even want them messing with the transmission or clutch, if its not broke don't fix it for me at this point..

ive had my tranny swapped for grinding issues (not related to sound you speak of). The new tranny is pretty smooth, but the noise you speak of is still there. It is "normal" for our cars. I wouldnt worry about it

The popping noise from the exhaust that you are hearing is due to a lean idle condition. We are currently solving this problem with the piggyback computer we are working on. I don't think the dealer has a fix for this but I am looking into if their are any new reflashes that they have put out to correct this...
