I don't know about that, I seriously doubt that Nissan is going to replace tires that didn't come on the car to begin with.

My question is are the people who have changed wheels and tires and upgraded their suspension still having feathering issues?

I've been told that Stillen rear camber rods can adjust and fix most of feathering problems. Is this true?

No, not at all. The problem is on the front of the car, not the rear.

I have an 04 Touring with 13,500 miles. At 7,400 miles the tires were balanced and the service writer told me there was no wear on my front tires. Started roaring about a week ago. Went to the purchasing dealer, Mike Shad Nissan of Orange Park, Florida, and the service department refused to even inspect the car. The service department told me to call Nissan North America or Bridgestone to have the tires replaced. I called Nissan North America and was told to take the 350Z to another local dealer. Took it 35 miles to another dealership where they inspected it and told me I needed new front tires and an alignment. The service department told me Nissan North America would have to make a decision as to whether they would cover this under warranty. I am still waiting for a reply. BTW, while sitting in the customer lounge at Coggin Nissan on Atlantic, Jacksonville, Florida, another 04 350Z owner was in having his car inspected for the same roar. He told me he had bought the car from Mike Shad Nissan of Orange Park and that they refused to inspect his car also.

What does the excessive tire noise inside the car mean, is that bad, cuz mine are loud as hell and its really annoying, have about 8000 on my 03, i thought it was normal but i guess its not good to hear, and how do you tell if you have feathering problems?

By the way, after reading everybodys stories about this issue, im starting to get really pissed and kind of wishing i went with the STI. This is a problem with a part of the car, not something the user did to it. That whole 3 year full coverage warranty should cover it and i know if enough of us make a stink about it, they will take care of the problem, its a $33k car, not a kia, so if nissan wants to do any more business with these cars, its in their best interest to take care of the people that bought them.

I have a 04 base got my front tires replaced and front end realigned at 14k miles. The local dealer was very friend w/o much hassle promised me to get the job done over the phone. I guess it all depends on the dealership whether they want to get the job done or not. Cuz Nissan North America knows the problem. I contact NNA before I call the dealer. I was told by NNA if the dealer give me a hard time just have them call NNA.
Keep trying. I'm sure there is a a friendly dealer in your area.

Rub your hand across the inside of both front tires. You will be able to feel the unever wear. You can also park with your tires turned fully in one direction and make it easier to inspect. If you are having the growling noise you have the same problem.
\My tires are on order and will be installed and the alignment accomplished once they arrive. After that it is good bye to Nissan. I gave them a fair chance and they have let me down. I refuse to replace my tires every 12,000 to 14,000 miles after the warranty expires. Nissan has yet to extend the warranty beyond the 12,500 miles on the alignment like they did on the 03's.

I have an '04 Touring Roadster. Noticed feathering at 5k miles and took to dealer. They agreed and replaced both front tires and alignment w/o any issue. This dealer was very courteous and took quick action. Hopefully the new tires I get -Nitto 555 (im buying the rears) will not give me any problems going forward.

Default 2004 Roadster

I have an 04 roadster (bought it back in March). I have about 7K miles. At around 6K, I noticed the noise. It's bad now. I have a call in to the dealer. I'll keep you posted. BTW: Before I bought this, the dealer assured me that this problem was fixed...anything for a buck.

I was called by the dealer yesterday and have an appointment to have the tires replaced and the alignment completed tomorrow morning. I think this will be my last Nissan. I plan to trade it off in the next couple of weeks. I currently drive the Z, a Y2K vette and a Sequoia. I have had the vette in the shop for fuel gauge errors (2 times), the battery cracked and leaked acid onto some vacuum lines causing holes, the steering column locked on me and left me stranded, the left rear differential seal leaked and was repaired under warranty, and the console lid came apart and couldn't be opened. If you look at Corvetteforum you will see that nearly every C5 vette has the same problems just like the Nissan. Hopefully they are not a part of the C6. After 2 years you would think that Nissan could fix this alingment issue. I am seeing more and more used Z's on used car dealer lots. I think the word is out that Nissan has yet to fix the alignmnet issue. Hopefully I will get top dollar for mine.

Yes, same tires, same results. I decided not to go the BBB route after reading their formula for buy backs. I could get more if I sold it. I am just going to wait for my problem to reoccur for the third time before 36,000 and sue Nisssan's *** under my lemon laws. That way, they MUST buy it back. 3 failures under 36K is an automatic lemon. Then, when I get my new Nissan or check, I will buy another brand of vehicle. F Nissan!

The Lemon law in Florida doesn't work that way. It is only good for 1 year and it must be for the same problem 3 times and no fix. I tried to get a trade at Toyota and was told the car is only worth $24,995 !. It looks like I don't have a choice but to hold onto it until I can get out of the negative equity. The word is out that Nissan can't fix the alignment issue. I was parked beside another 350Z at the Toyota dealer and she was doing the same thing I was. She only had 2,000 miles on it so I am sure she got top dollar. I drive mine every day. I have nearly 15,000 miles on it and it is only 11 months old. The tire issue is the ony problem with the car but I will be damned if I am goin go put out $400 every year to replace the front tires and do an alignment. At least I did find a good dealer in the Jacksonville area that takes care of the customer.

Still waiting for my new tires. Dealer says they can't get a set of REO40's. for some reason bridgestone is not shipping any at the moment. hhhmmm could this whole thing be a Bridgestone problem and we are waiting for a new and improved tire. That doesn't make since though because the rear tires aren't wearing like that.

The noise is really getting on my nerves and I don't even like driving my car anymore.

Reese, call Nisssan Headquarters and complain. They need to hear from all of us.

Well, I talked to Nissan today and basically what they told me was that the car needs to be checked for alignment every 7500 miles no matter what and it should be done at a place that has a Hunter GSPR 9700 alignment machine. If you go to Hunter.com you can find a facility in your area that has one. So the way I took it is that Nissan is now telling people this when they buy the car so it takes the liability away from them. The problem I have is that the car doesn't drive like it needs an alignment...every other car I have had you can tell when it needs an alignment.

I told them I didn't want a "band aid" I wanted it fixed for good and he assured me that as long as I keep having the alignment checked as mentioned above there would be no problem. As much as I hate this news, I would have to agree with Nissan that this is a high performance sports car and due to the firm suspension it probably will need more frequent alignments than other cars would. Especially in the Memphis area because the streets here SUCK!! Good luck to all...I will let you guys know when I finally get my tires.

I have 22,000 miles on my 2000 vette and have never had the tires aligned. They are wearing normally and I expect to get another 22,000 miles out of them before replacing the tires. I totally disagree with this solution of an alignment every 7500 miles. That is absurd. An alignment every other oil change. That adds up to 2 alignments per year for me. No where does Nissan tell you when you need an alignment. My Z was in the shop for the 7500 mile check and the service department told me my tires were wearing normally. At about 12,000 miles they started howling badly and by 13,000 they were completely worn out. I have driven trucks for 52,000 miles and never had an issue with an alignment. Nissan has a problem but won't/can't fix it!

Default 261 2003 failures

I just got off the phone with a Nissan rep named Coleman Stephens. He had told me one month ago that Nissan would warranty my newest set (third set by the way) of tires for 20,000 miles. I had asked for that stance in writing one month ago and still not received it. Therefore I called him back today to see where it was? Now, he refused to send it to me, and now says that I am out of warranty with Nissan on the tires, and they are now warranted through the tire manufacturer. He also mentioned something about me having a 10,000 mile 1 year parts and service warranty through the dealer's service department. Since the story changes everytime I call him, I asked for that in writing. Again he refused.

While talking to him, he told me that I am the FIRST person that he and his supervisor of the ENTIRE customer service department have talked to that has experienced this tire problem more than once. Therefore, I attempted to refer him to this website that has our poll, but he was not interesetd. Therefore, maybe we should call him direct?? I am sure that will **** him off, but o'well, they need to hear how pissed we are! Please call him and tell him your story. Coleman Stephens, 310-771-8473.
