Default Window Problem on 350z

The past month my driver's side window has been a major headache. When i try to roll up the window it goes up then goes down about 2 inches. I have to hold the window up switch for like 15 seconds for it to stay up. And now it is starting to not even respond to that... Now the window is stuck in the up position when opening and closing the door (You know that little feature the Z has when it drops the window when u open the door and raises it when u close it to protect the paint?).

I have gone to my dealer and they say it is not covered under warranty and that my car alarm (Viper) is probably interfering with it. Sounds like complete bull. [NOTE: I put in the car alarm about 7 months ago when I bought the car.]

Ever since I have had my Z, I take it to the dealer and NOTHING IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I just get the run around. Any suggestions on who I should contact or anyone know how to fix the window prob?

Thanks,
One Sad Z Owner

The up and down 2"problem happens on mine the first time "they" said it was a safety feature to prevent someone from getting ther hand or head ,etc, etc stuck Anyways "they reprogrammed" something and it was O.K. no problems. The problem came back and it goes away It happens only sometimes and you kind of have to master how to "flick" the auto up feature on the switch. I have heard other Zers with this problem. I also think holding the window up switch further damaged the switch or the motor making it stay stuck, anyways go to another dealer and do'nt tell them that you held the button. Not all dealer know what other dealers know or simply the Tech sucks."I Love My Z Hate Nissan Service"

Awww Cr*p...my driver side window just got "stuck" in the up position too. Can't do anything to get it down. I guess this is better than getting it stuck in the down position. Going to make an appointment with the dealer to fix it. They best not give me any BS too..

You know I think reprogramming is all it takes. My window works from time to time..??? I just need to find the time to go to the dealers. (my dealer is 40 miles away from my office)

Finally took my car to the dealership... they are going to replace the motor for the window. I'll pick the car up later and let you know more.

My car has a similiar problem on the passenger side. Window doesn't retract so door can be closed. Dealer replaced the motor and the problem didn't go away. They've ordered another new motor. They think the motor is defective. I think it's a programming error though. I have to push down on the window or play with the door close sensor switch before closing it.

re-programing the timer just prolongs the problem, if you window is mis-aligned or your motor sticks, the problem will just come back again.

I just started experiencing the same problem on my driver's side window as well.

1st I noticed that the window wasn't dropping as much as it used to, and then eventually I would use the "auto up" and the window would come back down half way.

I had my dealer look at it today and they are ordering a new window regulator. Part should be in next week. Covered under warranty.
