Default Is whining tranny REALLY an issue?

I had gear whine before and after my tranny swap (3rd gear grind is why it was replaced). The whine usually starts after hard driving. Not too bad, but I noticed from doing a search, that a lof of people have been complaining about it. Especially '03 guys.

I recently took a drive in my friends '04 enthusiast and his didnt have any.

I asked a few service techs and they said its normal on the '03s. Should I be concerned?

The tranny in my 04.5 roadster has lots of gear whine. This morning the throwout bearning noise (clutch in quiet, clutch out noisy) was so loud it sounded scary. Like a 1983 plymouth.

I have got to take this thing into the dealer..

I think it has to do with the lack of sound deading materials. Maybe they are not putting them back on or not putthing them on correctly.

Yes thats the tranny sound. What type of exhaust do you have? Your tranny whine is louder than mine. I also noticed my whine got louder after the 2nd tranny swap

I figured i'm not alone on this. I'll make another movie of the deep grr-grr-grr noise later.

My car is completely stock.

I heard from a few different nissan service techs, and even mechanics at local shops that tranny whine is normal after long driving/hard driving etc. I wouldnt sweat it. Even though I was the paranoid bastard that made this thread

haha I hear ya. I wouldn't be worried about the noise if 1st, 2nd, and 5th shifted as nicely as the other gears. Oh, it sounds like this all the time.

be careful, you may void your warranty. And if you get grinds, nissan may not cover it
