What exactly do you mean it may be too much pressure and dent the latch?

Thumbs up Thanks!

I think the worst things about this whole situation is the fact that I brought
the service bulletin to the dealership about the latch and they said they would take care of it under warranty, and then I get my final bill as they replaced the tranny window greese, and new seat covers, etc. Well they said it was fixed and they bought the part.

For some reason though it still didnt open on the first click. I had to click, lift up a little and then click again for it to open. So basically speaking, the dealership never fixed the problem and never ordered the part, LIED!!! Got it in writing!. Pretty shady if you ask me. I looked at the springs and they kinda dont look brand new to think about it. I dont think there is anything I can do about it now since im past my warranty date, but thought you should know that DEALERSHIPS are a shady place, but im sure you all know that, unless you know someone or if you like to speak your mind and talk towards upper management to get things done. My girlfriend works for lojack, funny thing about it is if you bought used, some of you on the boards may have had a lo jack already installed, and after you made a purchase, they took it out and put another in. She told me she had one customer that they obviously never told that had 3 lojack sensors in his car from previous owners. They make good money by not disclosing that info.!! My 2 cents, no PUN intended!

Your PENNIE THING WORKED PERFECTLY. YOU ONLY NEED 2 PENNIES ON EACH SIDE! PERFECT!! THANKS A MILLION!!

DESINRZ

P.S. grocery shopping just got a whole lot easier now

Pics are no longer displaying but I want to do this mod. I always have to hit my remote 2-3X to get the hatch to open.

------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a very simple fix for the rear hatch not opening and it costs just 4 cents....

1. remove the springs on the car you can just twist and pull it to remove them 1 on each side under the hatch.

2. Now that you have them off twist and pull till the top part seperates from the bottom once more

3. Now drop 2 pennies on each one as the picture shows. After the pennies are in you must now push the pieces together till it comes together and then replace the springs back in..

I finally did this fix last night.

It's the end of 3 years of double clicking and lifting...

Thanx.

Just another load of thanks! My dealer said it worked OK for them but it hasn't worked for me for the past 3 years. I was about to post a message asking for a cure but first I searched and came across your pics. Inserted my 4 pennies this morning in 5 mins and all is great once again!

Thank-you Ed 718. I just ordered two springs this morning (75.82 + tax). Then I found this thread looking for the TSB. Just cancelled the order. My fuel filler cap hasn't opened properly either. Especially when it gets cold. My dealer said it needed oiling. Can you believe the ignorance of some of these guys. Ordered the replacement parts (just a couple bucks). Easy fix. Thanks again.

It works! Been fighting the double click and lift hatch on my 2003 "Tour" for better than two years. The pics at post #40 made it so simple! Thanks!
