Default Anyone ever heard of ESSO Oil??

Just bought a case of the stuff... Its 5W30 as recommended by the manual, but I have never heard of the brand ESSO.

I know they used to be Exxon, as far as back in the 50's... Just wondering if I should use this company's oil. Am I being a bit paranoid?

Thanks!

Esso is very old school. It was a branch of Standard Oil and yes it goes back beyond the 50s. Esso was dominant gasoline and oil distributor in Canada and a lot of mid-western states. Assuming it's the same Esso, you should have no problem with their oil.

no sure if this is true, but

ESSO = Exxon in U.S.--> now, Exxon-Mobil = Mobil 1

so now, ESSO = Mobil 1 ?

Where in the heck did you find some old ESSO? Make sure you dust it off. Did they ask you what the futuristic looking thing you were driving was? LOL....

in Europe, Esso is still very much present, fully owned by ExxonMobil. No Exxon or Mobil petrol Stations here, though.

I actually work for them
