Question Wheel Repair

Has anyone done any wheel repair? I'm in the process of attempting to fix a scuff mark delivered by the sidewalk. I've been looking for a good paint that would match the OEM wheels, but can't really find anything.

Found a spray paint made by Wurth for wheels, but it's designed for German makes. I had read on another forum that they sell silver paint at Walmart that matches a Mazda, making this my best bet.

Anyone anyone? Bueller? Frye?

22 FRETS,

I also was bummed way out when i "scuffed" my right front factory painted wheel. I checked around thinking to get it repainted. Also checked the dealer and found out that these wheels cost around a grand a pop!

The best deal is to find a dealer or tire shop who can get you some chrome wheels. I paid around $600.00 to exchange my 4 painted wheels for 4 chromed 350 Z nissan wheels. They look great!

Check around

Dismount the tires (all four) and remove all hardware (pressure transmitte) from rims. Blend/sand the scuffs. Take rims to plating shop that does colored aluminum anodizing. Pick a color and have all four rims color anodized. Consult with the plater and reference anodizing specification MIL-A-8625 Class 2.

You should be able to get the wheel fixed to factory appearance for $150 each. There are a variety of companies that do that work at around that price. I had the same issue. My dealer quoted me $700 each for new rims. I haven't had my Z rims fixed but had some other ones done and they look great. Just like brand new.

150 is very high to have factory wheels refinished. I had my front two rims refinished through the dealer; cost $65 per wheel. They looked really good (until I ran into a curb again :-( )
