Default CD Player freakin' out

It works for a minute or two, then cuts out, and if I immediately remove the CD from the player it's really HOT. Anyone have any ideas before I take it to the dealer?

I may be able to tear down a motor and install superchargers, but all I know about car audio is turning up the volume.

Thanks in advance.

Anybody? I can't listen to the awefulness that is FM radio much longer.

(If I don't have a response by morning, I'm moving this to audio--just to abuse my powers a bit.)

Im having a prob too only on mine it only likes to play the music out of all the right side speakers and the left ones sound muffled. This is not the speakers though cause once I switch to radio, they all work. this happens on and off so i havent even been able to bring it to the dealer.

Similar thing happend to my none bose factory head unit. CD was f'ed up for a while. Originally, I left it alone as I was going to replace it with an aftermarket HU. But before I was done researching for a replacement, the CD starting working again. no skip for over 3 month (daily use). Weird?

Christi, at least you can remove your CDs. Come Tuesday the 2nd Bose 6CD player unit will be removed and replaced with 3rd Bose 6CD player. The dealer is saying the unit will have to be returned to Bose to have CDs removed.... Will I get the CDs back by Christmas? Problem: You go from FM to CD and within seconds it displays "eject". You can't eject! You can go back to FM, return to CD, select a different CD only to get same results....(

I have had nothing but problems with my BOSE since I got my car.

The CD player skips, doesn't read......until the car heats up. The CD's are always really hot!!

I am sick of the stereo and sick of the dealer.

I had all of these problems too. There are many threads on this site about them.

My local dealer said he replaces about 10 Bose units a month.

They replaced mine (based on my explaination of problems) without even looking at it.

The unit they put in my car has a "re-manufactured" sticker on it.

The only problem I have now is that it won't play CD's unless the car is warmed up (they skip).
