Red lights on doors went out...
So, has anyone seen this problem as well? Both red lights on my doors stopped working a couple of days ago. The map lights still work. There's a TSB for the map lights not working, but not for these red ones. I'd think that if the body control module crapped out, it'd take the map light with it.

I could swear I've seen them on. They're rather pointless without lights. My old Supra has red door lights with lights in them. The service manual doesn't say anything clear, though it talks about these "Rear Floor Box Lamp" widgets. I'll take off the cover off one and look.

Since my '88 Supra has red lights on the doors that actually light, I figured the Z did too. I pulled out the driver's side reflector and there's nothing behind it. It'd be a great place to hide your stash, though...

I worry about people sometimes
It is so bad that I have seen dealer pages like courtesy stating that common problem is door lights out no worries they are just reflectors

Thanks Guys, I was about ready to pull my doors apart.

If you really want them installed in your Z, you must remove both door panels and the front kick panels as well. You will need to fabricate a bracket to hold them in place (just behind the OEM door reflector) Then find a suitable power source. (ex: cigarette lighter or other constant power source in fuse box area) The 350Z door switches currently supply the ground. Make sure that you connect both ground wires together. You will then allow either newly installed door light to illuminate simultaneously when driver or passenger door is opened.
Nice diagram, frankmusic. It's on my to-do list, but waaaaay down at the bottom. Since you connected the door switches together do both windows drop when you open one door? IIRC, that's the signal to that door to drop it's window. That's not really a problem, just a side effect.

When I said, connect the two ground wires from the door switches - I was referring to the rubber switches located on the door jams. (not any switch "inside" the door)
For example; If you were to connect only one ground wire to its respective door exclusively, then only one courtesy door light would illuminate. By connecting both (door switch) ground wires to each other - both lights will illuminate simultaneously no matter what door you choose to open.

Yes, that's the one. The switch with the rubber bellows over it on the door frame. That's the switch that tells the computer to drop the window the 1/4" when you open the door. If you connect them together, won't the computer think both doors were opened and drop both windows?
