you can't rotate the tires. they are different sizes.

 

I think he has the same size wheels and tires like I do.
I am about to rotate mine soon so I will let you know.

 

really? i thought stock the front wheels were smaller than the back (width wise i mean, which also changes the height of the tire (the height is based off the width. a 225 50 series is smaller in diameter than a 235 50 series))

If you have stock rims and tires you can not rotate them, they are staggered and rotational.

 

I recall seeing someone post a method for resetting the traction control system. If I remember corectly the procedure is as follows.

Start car, back up in a straight line for 20 feet and stop. Pull forward for 20 feet and stop.

If I remembered this corectly the traction cntrol is reset.

guys you CAN NOT rotate the z tires... not sure how you even did it, but there arebolts that stop you from bolting the rear on the front. Switch them back before you do serious damage to your car

 

god, i dont even own a Z and i knew that you couldn't rotate the tires.

how about you now give your car to me, because if you rotated the tires on it, then you obviously have no knowledge of the car you own and would be better off driving one of my maximas. Then at least you could rotate the tires to your hearts content, and have no problems.

I have Konig Trouble 18X8 Wheels with 245/45/18 Falken Azenis rubber on all ends. I called nissan and they told me I can remove the bolt.

Best thing is my car handles better than it ever did before IMO.
Others like "jimster" have done this so ROTFLYAO all you want but it can and is done!

 

Yes it can be done, but you are assuming that he has aftermarket rims and tires. If you look at his sig, it looks like his Z has stock rims and tires therefore you can not rotate the tires.

his are stock. you can't rotate the stock rims. nissan and a lot of car companies stagger their wheels (MR2's, some bmw's, ferrari's, lambos... ect ect) it aids in the handling of the car.

your car handles better now because of the bigger rubber you have down.

but on stock wheels, and stock tires, it shouldn't be done, unless you want to run larger tires in the front.

yea, if he has stock rims then no. after market rims, i guess you can, but i wouldn't

for example on the mr2, i went from 195/60/14 Front 205/60/14 Rear, to 215/40/17 front and 235/40/17 rear, just to stick with the stagger. but that is because the mr2's have the tendancy for "snap oversteer" because of the mid mounted engine, and the way the car is, the staggered wheels help correct that problem somewhat. that is also why some of the other cars do it as well, and probably why the Z does too.
i bet if you put larger tires on the back of your Z, with the new rims it would handle even better that with the same size front and back.

 

Whoops.... the dealer told me to rotate tires front to back when I was buying a washer for the oil drain plug....********. I'll put them back tomorrow.

Alexxx....there is no way you rotated them unless you bought aftermarket....they wouldnt have fit that way unless you modified the front and removed the bolt!

I do most service/installation work myself, I did it on the Acura and I do it on the Z. When I went to the dealer I asked him if there was anything else important that had to be done for the 7500 mile service after I picked up some washers, he said "Yea rotate tires front to back and add NGK fuel injector cleaner"

I swapped the wheels without a problem, there was no bolts or anything that you describe to prevent them from sitting correctly.
I completely forgot that rear wheels were wider than front, I didn't even pay attention since I trusted the service rep.

Well its the second time Staten Island Nissan screwed me.
But it's good that I took the wheels off, I inspected them and I saw that my rear tire had 2 nails and some rusted piece of metal in it. I pluged the two holes and the third one wasn't leaking. For some reason I have bad luck with these Potenza tires, overall I had about 6-7 punctures.

So is there anything else that has to be done at 7500 miles besides the oil and filter change?

 

Regarding 7500 mile service, check the owners manyual. There are a couple levels of service to choose. Both are well defined.

 

I didn't know that either. Just wondering what you're suppose to do then to even out the wear on the tires? Just keep there for the entire life of the tires?
