Smile A new year means NEW PICS from the droid...

New S03s, fully detailed, beautiful day. I found some killer lighting and reflections as well as captured some interesting angles that show just how big the 255/45s are out back.

Question

How much did the bigger tires out back affect your speedometer and your acceleration?

If anything, I'd say my acceleration is greatly improved because these tires really hook up, unlike the RE040s.

The speedometer is now off 1.3% too slow, or at 60MPH I'm really doing 60.8MPH. I can live with that because I wanted more contact patch and I certainly got that via the S03s.

Excellent, just the same as when the 040s were new. The grooves in the S-03s are much larger than the ones in the 040s, so if you've got a very rough/uneven road surface, the S-03 will creep a bit more.

Droid,

Nice! Why didn't you go wider to the front as well to maintain overall stock rotating ratios?

Because the S-03 didn't come in a 235/45, just a 235/40 which would drop the sidewall on the fronts from 4" to 3.7" and be 2.2% too fast. I didn't want the rears and fronts to be going in opposite directions like that. The handling is extreme so far, and like I said, I'm still breaking in the tires.

The tail still kicks out nicely.
