Yea the reason Im posting this is because Im looking to buy a SLR, but the thing is my dad use to be a photographer and has a bunch of nikon film cameras and has about 50+ lenses. my question is are those lenSes interchangeable with SLR cameras? or do the SLRs have some type of electronic connection with the lenses?
Thanks,
Josh

Are you thinking of buying a SLR or DSLR? If the lens and body are from or made for the same brand then you should be good. The lens are the same for SLR and DSLR. For instance, I have a Canon Rebel XT, I've bought 3 lenses, as-long-as they're EOS then all the features of the camera/lens work just fine. And yes, there is an electrical connection between body and lens.

If they are all Nikon EF lenses, they should all mount up to a Nikon DSLR body. Same goes for Canon. Those are your two main options. Beware many of the features of the camera may be disabled with older lenses. Most of the time the older lenses will not autofocus or meter light properly as those are functions of newer cameras and not compatible with older lenses.

since you have all Nikon Lens.. go with the Nikon DSLR.
you cant mount Nikon lens to Canon bodies. unless you have converter.
wait next couple days, Nikon is announcing new DSLR (i guess it's gonna be D80 Not sure tho..)
or spend some extra cash and get a D200, which is king of the crop body!
