Somehow I forgot
to weigh the rims alone. I did weigh them w/new tires mounted tho. The front 18's are each 5lbs lighter (45lbs total) than the stock 17's. The rears are each 3lbs. lighter (48lbs total) than the stock 17's. Remember the rims went from 17/7.5 to 18/8.0 and 17/8.0 to 18/9.0 and tire size went from 225/50/17 to 245/40/18 and 235/50/17 to 275/50/18 and still 16lbs. lighter all the way around. Regards, Jim

I bet speed bumps are even more fun now than before. RU botoming out more often now?
Heck, with mine I bottom out when 2 people are in the car. My wife and I combined are only 300lbs. I truly dread those damned yellow things.

Ted, I actually have not had any problems. In fact, today I had to go to a mall (Aaaaack, I hate those things...) and I had to cross 4 speed bumps and not one scrape or bump from down under. I also have an inclined driveway and I have no problem in or out. This morning I just flat forgot and went out the same way I always do and nearly had a heart attack after I was out when I remembered I shouldn't do it that way anymore! Went on that invited run last night with the RX7 club and we had some dips and driveways to go thru and I was not concerned at any point in the run.
Are you going to be coming on the run to So. Mtn. tomorrow (Saturday)? Regards, Jim

A few pics that I shot today while watching the pro shoot my car for a magazine cover coming up for Discount Tire soon. These were all shot from 5 to 6:30pm as the sun was setting and the light was tailor made to shoot the Le Mans Sunset in! This is what we call the "Golden hour" in photography and it paid off for us today. Hope ya' like. Regards, Jim

Jim,
Thanks for the report on the new springs. Your car looks great and it sounds like you have found a reasonable solution to the "bounce" issue. It seems like the stock springs should be progressive. What was Nissan thinking? Keep us posted as you get more miles on that beauty. Thanks again, Pedal Pusher

PP, I will indeed be putting more miles on my LS! I leave around the 10th of April for an extended solo road trip in the Z. I will be gone for approx. 6 weeks and 7,000+ miles. Arizona to Fla. and then up the eastern seaboard to Montreal, Canada and then across the heartland and the Rockies for a few weeks and finally back home. My wife will join me for a few weeks and then she flies back home and I will continue my trip. It should be very interesting as the LS just knocks the socks off of all age groups here in AZ. and I know how it is going to be greeted in less cosmopolitan places across the USA! Regards, Jim

Ted, We did the shoot over at 51Ave and Buckeye in an old fertilzer plant that is partially abandoned. We thought the contrast of the old bldg's and the newly designed Z would be a show stopper. I think it is going to work. The magazine should be out in April and I'll bring a copy to the Z meeting if I am still here.
Give Todd a call on the setup I have on my car. Regards, Jim

Scoop, Thx for the kind words on the tips. I bought them from Midas Muffler. They are stainless steel and set me back $160 for the two. A bit hefty on the price, but I liked them and I wanted something to set off my Z from all the other great looking Z's. The neat thing with these is that they have taken on a very slight gold/brass patina and it really goes well w/the Le Mans Sunset color. I think these work for me. Regards, Jim

Thanks for the kudo's on the Z. As I have begun to tell the many admirers of our Z's when they compliment the car: "I can't take any credit for it, they designed, all I did was pay for it!"
In all my years of car ownership, I have never, ever driven a car that has attracted as much attention as this one and it amazes me more every day! Regards, Jim
