Default 10.5" track wheels

Tell me what yall think of my 10.5 inch track wheels. I took the stockers and had them widened 2 inches.

This is a nice low cost upgrade. I am planning on doing same once my tires have to be changed, except I am actually going to hack up a pair racinghart wheels...

dang, looks good, but i really don't know how those welds will hold up. you must have alot of trust / confidence in that welder.

good idea, but when it comes to safety issues, it's worth it to spend some extra cash...good luck with those.

People talk a lot about the safety issues of widened wheels, but I have yet to hear any stories of them actually failing. Did you get these done at Weldcraft? Fellow over on LS1GTO.com did the same thing...same width too actually.

I got them done at weldcraft. As far as safety these guys have been doing this stuff for quite some time. They have done all kinds of rims and never had any problems. True a weld may or may not be as strong as a forged piece but what is strong enough? I reseached this for almost one year, (as long as I've had my car) I just wanted a light wheel that was wide and there aren't too many that i can afford. I just wanted something different. I like to think outside the box. We will see how they hold up. As for price lets just say i have less money in this setup than you would spent on a light pair of rims alone. The guys at weldcraft did a great job and the wheels balanced out just as good as they did before they were widened.

So your offsets are effectively like... +80. Hmmm. Ok... did you think this through?

No you didnt think this through. Im sure the OP/Welcraft can place a cut where needed to give pretty much any offset you want or at least keep the same offset. This is the 2nd time Ive seen this done on the forums with track wheels, very nice OP *** all the haters who dont know $hit.

I'm not hating at all, I think this is great if it works out well. And I thought this through and I see no welds to correct the offset. Did you even look at the photos? Maybe keznevin would like to attach a few more pics showing how Weldcraft managed to correct the offset. It is possible that keznevin plans on running some thick spacers...

+1 i can't see the welds to correct the offset either. I still think it'd be better to go with a wide wheel vs. a widened wheel...to each his own.

That's pretty cool...always thought the original track wheels would look good wider. Post some pix when you have them installed!

subscribing for pictures....

also... its doesnt seem like you could correct the offset by placing the cut anywhere on the width of the wheel because it shouldnt really matter where the cut happens... either way the face of the wheel is pushed further out by 2 inches....

No it's not. Think of the wheel when it's mounted to the car. The stock wheels are already tucked. Now add another 2" to the inside of that wheel. So you're getting more tire closer to the center of the car instead of more rubber on the outward edge. That extra 2" inward is most likely gonna interfere with the shocks. It would have made more sense to extend the wheel from the face lip outward, but I guess that would have cost a ton of money to be done with good quality.

So if the offset was not corrected then the only option I see is to run a 2"+ wheel spacer. I mean seriously, somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
