I love the cage, but it looks like your head will be directly below the bar across the roof. I thought you didn't want that, in case the bar comes in on you in a roll over. I thought you want to have your head placement away from the bars.

Hey guys, not sure if anyone is still alive from this thread, but somehow I came across this amazing build thread of the car I now own. I always wondered why it had so many mismatched colored body panels, random holes in the floor, etc etc etc and now I know! I acquired the car with a very tired and smoking motor. Even though the chassis/ drivetrain has only 26k miles, the owner between Ricky and I road coursed it (or maybe Ricky did too) without an oil cooler!!!! So the rings were toast and the motor had low compression and smoked. I put a low mile replacement VQ35DE in her and transferred over all the old school speed parts that the car had previously. I also did Bosch 550cc injectors and a Quantum 340LPH fuel pump. I had SpecialtyZ in Simi Valley, CA do a dyno tune for E85, which resulted in 275rwhp on their Mustang dyno but the car feels damn strong. (I found a receipt for Church automotive where they dynoed 305rwhp on 91 but Church uses a hub dyno so I'm guessing this car should make 310-315 on E85 on a hub dyno). The first owner Ricky must have been a pigmy because there is NO way the roof cross bars would be safe or useable. I had to cut them out otherwise my helmet would basically hit them continuously even with my race seat mounted to the floor and all the way back. The car is now a drift car and sees regular time at Apple Valley Speedway and Willow Springs. It is a seat time car, something that is simple and always runs. It has full Wisefab suspension, Konig wheels, and I had the front half of the car painted so everything is presentable (hood, 06+ bumper, over fenders). It looks like this car has quite a history in SoCal and although it is no longer a creampuff (it was way worse when I got it), it is on the track doing track stuff.

First time I saw RickDogg's car was at a meet in Tustin way back in 2005. He drove it on the JPvizage kit with carbon bucket headlights on the streets. lol Awesome to know the car is still alive.

Was wondering where it went. I knew it was tracked for a while after Rick sold it, didn’t know it turned into a drift car

Now this is a thread revival I can get behind. I remember following this build many many years ago, before I even had my Z and before I was a member. That is wild to see its still getting driven and enjoyed.
