Unhappy The death of my Z (56k no no).

My buddy and I went up angeles crest hwy for a cruise. We got up to the 5000 ft mark and he noticed he was out of gas. I told him lets just put the cars into the highest gear and drive slowly. So I was in 6th, he was in 5th gear. As we went down the mountain we passed search and rescue. The next turn I was trying to avoid a big rock so I pressed the brakes and steered and the car understeered into the mountain. Once it hit the mountain, the rear went in the air. When the rear came down I slid on the mountin till it stopped. My buddy was behind me and there was a cobalt as well. Again, we weren't even going fast, it was just a freak accident.

Here are the sad sad pics.

Next up? Still deciding.

The body is actually not too bad, but the suspension and airbag is going to jack up the cost. At least that was all that was hurt.

I'm sure they will. I've never gotten into a accident before, I've had a clean driving record for over 9 years. Let's just hope this doesn't turn into a battle between me and my insurance.

I've been in 7 accident in my life and non of them were my fault. From "experience", depending on the year, mileage, and market value of your car, I'm guessing you are on the cusp btw totaled and fixable. That car is never going to drive the same if they try to fix it. Pray you have frame damage.

I was going around 50mph. Trust me guys, I was going slow. My buddy was behind me and there was a cobalt behind him. I was in 6th gear which also added to the understeer. I had no way of gaining control in 6th gear. We had passed the search and rescue truck 1 turn back and they also agreed with my speed.

Oh I know, I wouldn't even want to keep it after this thing.

Wow, sorry about the accident. I was just browsing through your gruppe-m thread then saw this. Glad you're okay though.

When you say "slid down the mountain," did you actually go off the cliff?
