ok, im kinda split on this issue. the main purpose of the vents is for obvious purposes, cooling. for F/I, its a no brainer, do it wether you track your car or not. for n/a, i hope you track your car cause otherwise the vents are for just show. in other words, RICE.

So are you saying that everything that makes a car look good is rice. Just cause someone gets something for there car to make the car look better doesn't necessarily make it "rice"

not necessarily, but the main reason why they originally put the vents there was for cooling purposes, not for looks. body kits in general dont take performance into consideration, but the vent mod was specifically designed with a purpose in mind. its like someone getting bbk just for show without actually taking advantage of it. i think its rice, but to each his own. i partially agree with your stance on this issue.

Honestly, I do plan on bringing my car into track days for Auto-X. Not so much road courses just yet. I upgraded to OEM Brembos because of safety reasons and I think I can benefit from the upgraded braking power. The vents are just a fun idea I kind of threw in to make my Z a bit different than others. I did not have FI in mind. I thought about it before but due to my budget I can't deal with the unexpected maintenance and issues that FI comes with so often.

I am still considering how I can wash my car though...can someone shed light into this? lol

As long as you use common sense here you'll be fine. My Greddy TT filters were right underneath the vents. No issues. Just don't go squirting in the vents and looking for trouble.

As I said, you will get some water into the engine. NO BIGGIE. It's waterproof and you'll be surprised how little gets in.

And don't worry about the water, just a quick wipedown on your engine should suffice or put a towel over that area when you spray down.

good lord that's ugly, looks like some one went tap dancing with muddy shoes on his hood...

I was thinking of getting these vents cut out into my factory hood and go along the lines of my Stillen cowl.

I need some sort of vents, it gets way too hot under the hood during summer.

I sent the image of the vents to a graphics store and got it laid out in vinyl.

I plan to do this myself, shouldn't be too hard since I already cut a square in the hood for the Stillen kit to fit with no problems.

Has anyone out there done this on their own? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
