Hey I resent that comment!
Could have gotten a G, but I'm more into sportscars.

Most people are just going to look at the Altima and go "Oh cool! It's sporty and has a backseat! It's cheaper than the G so all I need is leather."

Hmm I didnt mean it that way. What I meant was basically the Z and the Alt coupe is about the same price. And the Z is RWD and has more HP. Why would you buy an altima?

As good looking as the Z is, that's usually a 2nd priority for the majority of customers who choose the Z. People who buy the Z tend to buy it to drive and drive hard. I think (and nissan evidently agrees with me) that there are a lot of people who come in and want to buy a Z but end up put off by the stiff ride and percieved safety issues of a RWD drivetrain. They want something with looks and power that can cruise on the highway but without the harsh handling/ride comprimise of the Z. They also want rear seats and a serious trunk. Lets face it the Z is incredibly impractical, for instance I've tried moving with one of our cars and it's an exercize in futility.

So i dont think the altima is a competitor to the Z. If you're cross shopping the two cars, you're probably going to want the altima anyway.

true dat! lol, i did the same thing. i managed to fit about half my wife's shoe collection in the Z. impractical yes, but man the Z sure is fun ain't it? good thing the wife has the mom-mobile or we would've had to rent a moving van.

on topic, the G37 is badazz looking. the Altima coupe is a nice ride too. they have a black 6 spd nicely loaded at the dealer where i got my Z. it's cheaper than my car too..........*sigh*

Well put...

If someone can even consider an Altima coupe vs. Z, they're better off going with an Altima since they've overlooked everything that makes a Z.

many people have bad comment on the altima coupe, saying why not get the G, better performence..., which I disagree, if using this way of thinking process. Then I could always say why not get lamborghini, or ferrari, better performence though.
If you are not getting the world fastest car, there is always a better car on the market.
autoblog.com also comment it as poor man's G35. then I could comment on camry is a poor man's lexus, too.

i like the altima coupe.

this weekend some kid pulled up next to me in one and actually revved at me. i stuck my arm out the window and pointed at my rear wheels and then put my window back up. of course he jumped off the line when the light went green and i saw it was the 2.5. so i laughed and continued to taco bell!!

I got a chance to drive an Altima coupe at the dealership. I wasn't too impressed by the design or performance. The interior is nicer than the Z in material but over design was a bit conservative.
