Default Trying some Camera skills.... =/ *PICS*

Well I have NO camera skills whats so ever, and I wish I did, I have a Decent camera, its a Sony 5.1 mp. Its got all kinds of modes and custom crap I dont know how to use, but the night mode makes my pictures look kinda pretty... LOL please don't flame my lack of camera skills!

1. I like this picture because of the outline in the sunset, YES I know its dark, but hey turned out ok??

2. Up close, mind you it was pretty much dark outside, the night mode helps on this $hitty camera, oh those are my running lights too =)

FAIL! Too small and too dark. The second picture is clear but its still a little too dark.

The fun part of photography, once you get some hardware(point and shoot works), it's just up to you to improve
Keep playing around and remember to have some fun.

Keep the shutter open longer at night. I know it's a point and shoot camera, but it can be done. Most modern point and shoot's have the ability to keep the shutter open up to 15 seconds.

i think iso and shutter speeds both help with night pics... but nothing makes a night picture better than some extra light

also just a personal thing is i like to make sure to get the whole car in the picture or whatever the focus point is

You know what I would totally put bigger pictures but stupid Photobucket reduces the size to 1024x768.

How would I keep the shutter speed open longer?? I looked in my camera settings and it might be there but under some weird abbreviation?

Thanks for all the input guys....
