Nismo Headquarters Tokyo
So you are wondering what is NISMO, well it's a separate company from Nissan and is of course separate from Nissan North America. They do work with Nissan as they race and sell racing parts for some of the fastest cars on the planet. They also have a few nice buildings in Tokyo where they design, build and sell their kick-*** products. Nissan North America will start distribution of select NISMO parts in June. I got lost a bit taking the trains there, but the effort was definitely worth it.

There are plenty more pics, but it's late here in Tokyo and I have been asked to do a gallery. The clarification that is important is that NISMO has a relationship with Nissan, but they are separate. The NISMO guys just build racing cars and build racing parts. The NISMO muffler is NOT the same as the Takao Nissan parts muffler. The NISMO muffler has been dynoed, so it definitely adds both a distinct sound and more horsepower.
There is no ECU kit for the Z yet, but if the US market for NISMO parts can grow, then we can start getting everything that the Japanese market gets (except maybe the exact same seats, but that's a long story).
I met some great individuals today at NISMO, but I will not post their names to protect their privacy. Unfortunately this is as close as I will get to Mr. K for a while (perhaps the NH convention), although he has a nice display on the second floor and visits NISMO every Tuesday. I leave for the US on Monday.
