I have never seen that custom plate style when I picked mine out. Is that plate new for this year?

yeah some company was making them for Texas - they were only out for a year then went bankrupt... which sucks becuase once my year run outs I cant use it anymore

Is that something the state is requiring, that you discontinue use? My custom plate just needs to be renewed every year along w/ normal registration.
