Default Back in the Z game - 2JZ 350Z

Some of you may remember my HKS Supercharged 350Z

Name: rr3_zps01c98795.jpg
Views: 116
Size: 179.3 KB

Which I sold to buy a R34 GTR

Name: P1010142.jpg
Views: 98
Size: 79.5 KB

Which I then sold to buy a house & a Supra

Name: IMG_0889_zps71b32495.jpg
Views: 101
Size: 275.0 KB

Then I blew the supra motor & its been sat around since June having a forged engine built.

A few weeks ago I broke up with my GF & my brother decided to sell his 350Z. I managed to get a good deal off him so I'm now the owner of another Z

I stripped the Supra of all the un-needed bits & sold the shell. The Z will be going into my mates garage soon to have the VQ removed & a forged 2JZ fitted

The 2JZ is currently at my engine builder where it will have the following spec

Eagle Rods
Wiseco Pistons
Titan Oil Pump
OEM water pump
ARP bolts
ACL bearings
New OEM gaskets
Titan cam gears
BC Cams
BC valves
BC retainers
Borg Warner S366 turbo
SRD intake manifold
PHR pulleys

We are still working out the details of the fuel system.

Target is 700hp hopefully with a similar torque figure

I've also got a Syvecs S6 ECU left over from the Supra that will be used and a few other nice parts that we can transfer over. Hoping to have the car done by April depending on how much money I can afford to spare.

Engine mount kit and new wiring harness were ordered last week and should be here in about 3 weeks, conversion kit to use the 350Z gearbox was ordered last week also. Hoping to have the engine in and running by the end of January and then just need to sort out the race tech dash, roll cage and suspension

As much as I love my Z I've always had a major infatuation with the Supra; just curious why you decided to move to the 350z platform with the 2JZ...

why? Because I can

This my 4th 350z, I've got to the point now where I know them pretty much inside out. I really wish I never sold the original Z I had tbh.

I never got on with the Supra - infact I hated it! Once the engine let go in it I lost all hope with the car.

I had a high mileage 350Z & a broken 2JZ seemed like the logical thing to do

Lol, good for you

What sucked about the Supra? I know some people complain it handles like a tank, or was it the general feel of it?

350Z-2JZ subframe, engine mounts and brackets turned up

went to offer it up to the car and we all realised we had overlooked something - its for a LHD car

so rather than mess about with moving the mounting points around we just did this to the existing subframe

Hopefully should have the engine back in the next 2 weeks. All we need now is the engine harness & a fuel pump - still debating on whether I should go for a single intank high flow pump or a couple of external pumps like a Bosch 044

A couple of more parts have turned up for the build in the last few weeks
