what i have been up to past few months
so since we're still waiting on the machine shop to there wasn't much to do today. after we cleaned out all the oil last week we now started cleaning the valve stems and getting them all re seated with new seals.

since that didnt take very long we decided to put in the new cams my buddy got for his evo 9.

got a lot done today. motor is back together. timing chain was a b****. also to anyone else in the future rebuilding their motor just remember to do the oil pan last lol. put the bottom half on and had to remove it to put the front timing cover on. but next week we should have it back in the car and buttoned up. just ordered my amsoil break in oil. really can't wait to hear this thing start up next week!

so we had hopes of getting it running yesterday... thats the fun of building car right??
break in oil and running oil came in wednesday.

got the motor back in, most of the major parts bolted up, and harness all connected for the most part.

now all we really have left is the coolant system and a few little items before its running. hopefully before summer is over ill be driving it? maybe?

I am always amazed at how well people take their engines blowing so soon. Just blew the engine, well off to rebuild! I know that most likely that was not your initial reaction lol. But props for a good attitude and loving the build! In for updates.
my first reaction was a mix of punching things, crying, and trying to get off the highway before the car came to a complete stop lol. the first week was rough but once i came to the realization that it was gone for the season and didnt have my hopes set too high that this would be a quick process i got over it lol. sucks but i know once this is done ill have a very reliable and quick car.
alright guys we hit a huuuuge wall last night. got the car all back together. went to start it and it won't start. started checking fuses, wiring, sensors, everything. still no start. pulled a plug and held it against the ground and we see no spark when we crank. we're getting injector pulses so i doubt its the ecu. checked crank sensor, cam sensors, and checked each coil to make sure they are getting power and they are. but still no spark! security light blinks like normal with no key then shuts off when in the on position. I'm at a loss right now!
so after we calmed down and got some sleep because we were working all day yesterday. we found the cause! a F**KING ground wire that hid itself behind the timing case. once we found that she started right up. got everything buttoned up and took her home! just got back in about 30 minutes ago and on the east coast thats around 1130. and i was over there working on it since 11 this morning. long days but she's finally done! now i just have to do the stupid break in. its going to be rough keeping it easy but its worth it!
i have pictures and videos i need to upload but ill post those up tomorrow!

as much as i am happy that it's over i will miss ripping it apart and putting it back together. definitely won't miss the random expenses that popped up all over the place. but it was a lot of fun to build. but in massachusetts right now it is 10am and about 65-70 degrees. perfect driving weather! so yea I'm glad it's finally over
