The Z is mine (his), of course. And the M Roadster is my wife's.

Speed: The 1999 M Roadster is almost as fast (.1 second on the 0-60).
Room: The M is very small inside compared to the Z. It's got no spare room. If you bring a Palm Pilot, you seriously have to worry about where to put it.
Ride: The 350Z stock suspension is more stiff. The M's is more soft and comfortable.
Handling: The 350Z SMOKES the M. Around corners, it's no comparison.
Style: The M has a classic sports car look, esspecially the guages and layout of the interior. I like the 350Z's exterior styling more. But both look good in their own way, and both turn heads on the road.
What to call them: The M Roadster is a souped-up version of the BMW Z3. We had to agree that when we say "Z," we are refering to the 350Z, and when we say "M," that'll be the BMW.

I always thought the M roadster was faster than the Z? I am really surprised to hear that the Z out handles and is faster than an M roadster... the M roadster was one of my dream cars!

Yea, those are the stock M Roadster wheels. I'll say this: BMW knows how to make a nice wheel for their performance models.

M roadster and 350Z are neck and neck in acceleration.....as long as it doesn't have the S54 motor , that's a 12 sec car hehe
i'd give the handling nod to 350Z, even with it's additional weight as the M roadster uses antiquated suspension design

the new Z4 handle much better, though i hear the ride is very harsh

We looked at the Z4's. The most powerful one they make is a 3.0 Liter. Not in the same power category - plus about $40 grand. The Z4 is a nice car for sure. But the used M Roadster had a "classic" sports car look, it was more powerful, and A LOT cheaper.
