Baytown Drag Strip Tonight
I'm going out to the 1/4 mile strip in Baytown tonight with some buddies of mine. It will be my first time racing, so I'm sure I will not do so well. If any of you are interested PM me and maybe we can meet up down there.

I'm at the track right now and doing terribly I ran 14.688 the first run and 14.668 the second run. I'm dumping the clutch and not getting off the line very well. I'm going to take one more run and see how it goes then chill for a while. Maybe run again later if it doesn't get too crowded.

With the TC off I didn't even finish. I couldn't get the tires to hook up, they are brand new 285's in the back so I didn't think I would have that problem. Anyway, my car hit rev limiter and shook my ghetto intake rig loose and killed the motor. Needless to say I was extremely embarrassed but there was nothing I could do but wait and get towed off. I really need to practice launching because right now I suck.

Remember, tires make a huge difference. I'm not just talking about the size, neither. I have the sh1tty Nitto 555 NT Extreme ZR and I can't catch traction. The best I could muster with them was a 2.0. My Pirelli P-Zero's could do 2.1 w/o me even trying.

You also have to remember, some tracks are faster than others. The one we have closest to DFW (TX Motorplex) isn't one of those fast tracks. We also have a relatively high altitude, along with mediocre track prep. Why do you think the Zs in the Eastern states have such good times? You really think the drivers are that much better than the people here? I don't think so. I'd like to see some of those guys come here and get the same times.

I slide everywhere on the track in first and second on stock tires. I can't get to the 13's because of this! The stock tires just won't grip. My 60' times are lagging hard at 2.2 because even at half peddle at the start, I still skid too much.
