SASCA Autocross - Sunday, April 15, 2007
The next San Antonio Sports Car Association (SASCA) autocross event is scheduled on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the AT&T Center in SA. Last month, we had three 350Zs show up. We need more 350Zs this time -- we are outnumbered by Vettes, Mustangs, RX-7/8s, and Miatas . Registration is only $25. If you do not feel comfortable driving, just show up and watch the event. You can even request a ride with one of the experienced drivers before participating in one.
Here is the SASCA site for additional information on the club & the event:
http://www.sasportscar.com/forum/log...al_content.asp
Here is the DLB Racing site to register for the event:
http://www.dlbracing.com/default.aspx?
NOTE: When registering, you'll have to declare what classification your Z belongs to. Here are a couple of suggestions:
Select "NBS" if your Z is stock or have very few modifications.
Select "NBSP" if your Z has major modifications.
Select "NSM" if your Z has major modifications, to include engine modifications.
N stands for novice.

Monday Bump
There are almost 60 cars registered for Sunday's autocross. Only two 350Zs are registered so far but at least eight STi/WRX/EVO/Lancers. Come on guys, we can't let these Subarus & Mitsubishis outnumber us. If nothing else - at least we've got quality over quantity!

That might be explained by the Z Sport car show going on that weekend. There is also a Sunday cruise involved.
Not the best weekend to expect Z's to show up. Sorry for the Bad News!!

I'm well aware of the meet & the cruise. This is an invitation to those who are not going on the cruise on Sunday. And I wouldn't exactly call it bad news. It's actually good news for those who are able to attend the autocross!

Hey Brandon, I didn't know changing the final drive moves me to SM. Where specifically did it state that swapping final drive moves me to SM? It stated drivetrain is unrestricted, except for the limitations listed, which did not state anything about the final drive.

Hey mod, thanks for making this thread a sticky!
As of this morning, 71 cars are registered! It's going to be an awesome autocross event! We currently have three 350Zs registered, and there's a Lotus Exige in our group, and at least three Z06s in other groups! This is better than a car show, and you actually get to watch high performance cars being driven to the limit!

Friday AM bump . . . 78 cars registered and counting. You can do a walk-in registration on Sunday AM if you decide to attend at the last minute.

Too bad you couldn't make it. It was a beautiful day, with 100+ drivers registered. There were three heats and each heat ran four runs. SASCA kicked me out of the Novice Class. It was a wide open course for the high-powered cars. They said my Z was too fast for that group. I drove with my track setup -> track rims with Toyo RA-1s. They moved me to BSP due to my R-compound tires. There's no one to compete against in that group - in fact, I think I was the only in that group this weekend. Results are not posted yet online.

They finally posted the results:
http://www.sasportscar.com/forum/upl...-04-15_fin.htm
In looking at strictly raw times, I beat everyone in the Novice Class if I stayed there. None of the 20 cars in that group were below 80 seconds. I did kill that Lotus Exige -- really bad. His best time was 13 seconds slower than my fastest time. Here are the four runs comparing the raw times between my Z and the two Lotus' that I beat:
CAR / 1st RUN / 2nd RUN / 3rd RUN / 4th RUN
My Z: 81.223+1 / 77.629 / 79.616 / 77.453+1
Lotus Exige: 96.367 / 94.298 / 87.069+DNF / 89.688+2
Silver Lotus: 79.977 / 78.547 / 78.521+1 / 77.181+3
I'm sure with a better driver in that Lotus Exige, we would have been close. But man, those Toyo RA-1s are great!!! I was about three seconds from one of the Z06s. The Z06s are my next goal . . .

Here are a couple of pics of my track rims with the Toyo RA-1s (245/40/18 on all four corners). Also, I have another set with OEM 17x8 rims with Hankook Ventus Z211s (275/40/17 on all four rims). I did not get a chance to run this setup this weekend. The 3rd & 4th pictures show my tire trailer with both track setups.
