Z Club of Houston Car Show

You didn't read my thread above. the 350 wasn't a dealer or factory-prepped car. It was done by another guy- just like you or me. It just happened to be a previous owner who decided to buy something else once it was done. The current owners in fact bought it to be a track car so the black Z32 show car could stay clean and shiny.
the black Z32 was done 100% by the owner, except for the suspension and brake work. 5 years ago, it was a beat up DD. there have been thousands upon thousands of $ in repair/restoration money and modifications to make that car what is it now. That car won best of show due to its condition and cleanliness, not because of politics. If you doubt that so much, go look up what he scored at the national ZCCA convention last year. His car is ranked amongst the best in the country. It deserved to be inside the showroom, as with all of the other cars in there.
Keep "venting". We've got good reasons for everything.

I'm not taking anything away from either car, both were nice especially the Z32, I do feel though they got "special" treatment setting in the air cond. showroom intead of outside with us. It was fun nonetheless.

The owner then decided he didn't want it, so he traded it in to a dealership in St Louis. As for the scores it received, the mods didn't cause the car to win. the cleanliness of the car is what gave it the high scores it got. whether it was detailed by the owner or the dealership doesn't matter.

JDM parts? I'll give him the Nismo seats, but I looked at that car top to bottom and saw no list of JDM parts right down to the nismo exhaust that can be bought over the counter. And of course it was clean, it had about a thousand miles on it. I guess I'll go buy a new Nismo Z and enter, then I won't have to park outside next to all those dirty unmodified 500 hp twin turbo Z's.

or my single turbo Z........
Regardless, it was a good show but rules weren't made clear to competitors, oh well. I'd be upset if money was involved, but it's just a local car show that provides a great chance to mingle w/ fellow enthusiasts.

Sorry if I come off like an a$$, I'm really not, but I'm just burnt out on how car shows work, {everywhere}. I know several of the local Z owners that have put so much into their cars and spend countless hours tuning, changing this, changing that, and in the end some shiney car wins. I'm sure if an F430 or Diablo VT rolled up and entered the Z show, one would've made off with the trophy. Oh well thats why I quit showing a couple of years ago. Hopefully I did'nt offend anyone.

I'm 100% sure of it. I myself printed a couple copies of the rules and keep them with me at the show, as well as the actual judging criteria. Just like in racing, it is the competitors' responsibility to be aware of the rules and compete within them. It is not the responsibility of the judges and techs to teach you the rules. If you have questions about anything, then you need to ask. Don't come up and complain AFTER the event because you didn't take the time beforehand.
And no, an F430 or anything like that won't even be allowed to compete at our shows. Non Z cars are allowed, but only other Nissans/Datsuns- and they still compete in a different category from the Zs. other makes aren't allowed in the competition at all.
I was mistaken on the seats in the 350. I thought I remembered them being Bride seats. They are in fact JDM NISMO seats. Look through the current catalogs and see if you can find any like them here in the states. Not that JDM is the end-all-be-all, but give credit where it's due. the car got the score it did because of the condition it was in. and just because it only had 1200 miles on it didn't mean it didn't get dirty. most of the points I took off that car were from dirt, smudges, and the plethora of white lint all over the inside of the car from it being detailed. (Hint.. if you have a black car, don't use a fuzzy WHITE towel to detail it!!)

I try....really I do...
I try sooo hard to stay out of the controversy, but it seems to follow me wherever I go .
Our car show(s) try to accomplish two things:
a) Help to bring together the Z (Nissan) Community, and...
b) Try to give a little something to the Houston Community...in this case, our favorite charity, the Houston Food Bank.
If you win a trophy...GREAT !
If you win a raffle prize...GREAT !
We try to make sure that everyone leaves with something...even if it was just a good time and a full tummy.
Being as fair and equitable as possible, we try to follow the Z Car Club Association Rules to standardize judging across the country. Speaking of the ZCCA...is anyone going to the national convention in Daytona Beach Florida this week? I'm flying out on Tuesday. I've gotten several calls from members who are on the road as I'm writing this. It's one seriously large party.
but back to our local car show...
The "touching" issue will be addressed at the meeting before judging starts.
Hopefully, we won't have the same issues that we had last time.
EVERY car deserves the utmost care and respect....and that's what we plan to give'em.
The cars that get parked inside belong to members of the Z Club of Houston. Unfortunately, we don't have room for everyone to park inside, so we pick the cars that are usually in contention for the AutoRama in November. Hate to sound snobbish, be we've got to make a decision somehow
For those of you that don't know me...I was the ZCOH Club Prez for 10yrs.
I've help run a LOT of car shows. I've lost count of how many times I've been a judge at car shows (including the Houston Autorama). So I guess I've gotten a little jaded or calloused about the importance of winning.
I just hope everyone shows up and has a GREAT time.
Looking forward to seeing and meeting you all there !!!
Oh...I guess I should warn you...at our last club meeting I was elected KING...so if you have an issue, come see me and I'll hand you off to one of my many sub-serviants (I crack me up) !
One last issue...TruBlu, if you don't straighten up, I'm going to go by and pick up your Uncle and we're going to come over there and smack you around some Me and George is big buddies...he knows I'm kidding !

Count me in to see the show. I only have rims and to me, you don't show your car unless you have something worth looking at. Also I wouldn't have time to spend an entire day to sit there and wait for judges and then finally awards. I'll so you guys there and of course compliment you on upgrades, but that will be for only one or two hours out of my day.

I still would rather points be deducted rather than having people (even with the utmost care) touch my car. And I know we discussed this at the show.
