[DFW] 2011 VQ AutoCross Championship Thread
I'm intrigued. I have never run an autox before, only track events. What is the approx cost of an event? Also, do you have to work at the events? I watched one event with Jake and Jason, but that's as much involvement I've had.
dave - usually the events cost around 35 bucks (iirc) plus the cost of this lil championship we have going on.
Yes you do have to put in work at these events.. but thats cake, you get to see where everyone messes up and get a feel for the course (in case you dont get to walk the course before the event)

Dust off those cobb webs! There's no off season in Texas, lets go RACING!

I was hoping to try to schedule as many official events at Pennington Field but as it turns out most clubs have not scheduled anything there past this spring due to difficulties with the owners.
I'd like to fill a slot or 2 with Loan Star Park but the only club I see renting the place is the SCCA. I'll get in touch with them to se if they require full membership to run. As it stands I'm spreading the love around between clubs that I know dont require membership.

So what chapter are we gonna be clinging to ???
I'm going to schedule our #2 event for the weekend of the 19+20 of March soon, by this weekend the latest.
I got off the horn with PCA-Maverick and they run 8-12 laps at Mineral Wells. Yes up to 12 runs! Look at their past results, they get about 35-40 people so they run a LOT.
I'm told they have about 75% Porsche and the rest is a mixed bag. So expect to come and represent (and see some nice **** cars). I think registration was your typical 30$ and it's done through clubregistration.net (no walk-ups, sorry).
As usual spectating is allowed but I didn't ask about ride alongs. Some clubs don't allow them, like SCCA.
You'll see details by this weekend.

I've updated the tenative events for this year and penciled in all 10 plus a few exhibitions.
I'd like to do a 2 day exhibition event where we score with a different format. Probably best time, most consistant, least cones, etc... But I'd want high participation because I think it would be fun if it was a stand alone mini-competition. I'm open to ideas for other types of mini-championships.
I'm going to try and setup the May 14th event this weekend.

Event 4 has been scheduled. I'll send out notices.
