Default Test pipes and emissions

Hey guys,

I ran a search but found nothing on test pipes and emissions. I was wondering if anyone in our area is running on test pipes (Helix, Stillen, Pro-1 etc) and how IF at all they are passing emissions legitimately!! I have a friend w/ a WRX STI who eliminated his cats all together b/c turbo car's need as much free air as they can get according to him. But any N/A guys got test pipes and recommendations on brands?? I was going to be in the market for an exhaust upgrade come spring, but just wanted to know in advance how I am to pass emissions, I am assuming you cant...?? Hi Flo cats instead??

Thanks guys!!

Test pipes dont filter out any emissions at all.. and thus if you remove Cat's your gonna run into a problem passing emissions. I would recomend Hiflow cats.. probibly Random technology's offering. Ive heard a few guys run them here and have not had any complaints.

Thanks mike I knew they basically just passed along all exhaust gases (no filtration) but I was curious as to what all these turbo and/or N/A guys do w/ test pipes!! I'm just going to stick to hi flo cats then!!

If I were running test pipes... the day before emmisions was due, I'd slap my cats back on.. test it.. then slap the test pipes back on 'er...
