Default whew, I lucked out

got hit a couple weeks ago by a traffic camera on MacArthur Blvd in DC. I was pretty pissed because it was my second ticket that day (driving down from NY - got nabbed on the jersey turnpike going 82). Well, I received my notice today and it says in big fat bold letters WARNING NOTICE . I was going 48 in a 25 - so while it wouldn't add any points, it still would have been $150 fine.

*disclaimer - these were my first offenses since 2001. I was driving down from NY and hit tons of traffic, so by the time I made it down to the DC area I had been driving for almost 10 hours and was quite pissed off.

They have both speed and red light cameras in DC now. The Metropolitan Police Department Web siite actually provides a map of locations. Go here http://mpdc.dc.gov/mpdc/site/default.asp and click on the Traffic Safety link on the left. You can read all about both types.

yep, they have speed cameras too. Basically there are white lines painted on the road and a camera clocks you as you drive over them.

damn...since it is radar enforced i might have to get a V-1 now and really make sure i watch my speed in DC. Every road now is 25 or 30, all to raise revenue...
