Default Washing the Z

Hey peoples, so I just picked up my new (used) Z and am looking to get it washed ASAP (superblack & pollen don't mix). Took it by Mr. Wash on Glebe and they told me they couldn't wash it because it was too low (I have the stock supension, but a Nismo lip).

Any idea where I can get my Z washed by hand, or is Mr. Wash wrong and it isn't in fact too low?

(I live downtown in an apartment, so washing it myself is kinda difficult)

THANKS!

I live in an apartment too. I recommend picking up a decent bucket and a good microfiber sponge then take it down to a local car wash and spray it down then handwash it before rinsing it off.

hahhahaa....yeh, never owned a black one before.

prolly just get it handwashed then, since I don't think there's a lot of self-wash places around. some shop around here does handwashing for like $25.

I guess i'm pretty damn lucky that my apt building has a wash bay in the garage. Just wish it didn't smell so bad down there and had better lighting.

Theres a place out here in Fairfax, but thats a tad far to drive... oh, there is a hand wash place down on Little River Tpke... 395 S, take the Little River Turnpike exit, and it is at the gas station on the left side about half a mile in.. right by the IHOP.

Speaking of washing... I washed mine today, and the trees would not quit shitting on my car. It was a race to dry it off b4 the next gust of wind!!! Beware!!

If you have to take it anywhere to get it washed and can't do it yourself, I suggest you look for one of those touchless car wash places... I've never had any problems there using those. although my friend said he took his m3 to a brushless in chantilly, and it scratched his car, im thinkin it was a one time fluke type thing though...

Random question, but don't most car washes (including Mr. Wash) advertise that it's brushless? Is there also a "touchless" place as well?

And cool on the place next to the IHOP. I'll try and drive down there sometime this week -- thanks!

Well i've been to 2 that are brushless/touchless (not sure if they're the same thing or not) and they just have the jet sprays soap up the car and rinse it. Nothing ever comes in contact with the car besides pressurized water.

The main problem with most car washes, including the touchless ones, is that the soap that they use will usually strip any wax that is on the car.

Looks like I'll be getting it hand washed 'til I find a place to do it myself. And yeh, any advice for what to use and how (or special considerations for an SB)? Heard Meguiars and all that is pretty good.

I have a SB and I only use Meguiars NXT products. The wash, wax, detailer and tire shine all work great plus they are available at most auto parts stores so no need to order anything if I run out.

Yep my thoughts exactly, go on a weekday since its not as busy and they normally prohibit bucket washing.

Do not use drive thru car washes or those Brushes, bog NO-NO!

Check the detailing forum, lots of detailing posts out there, GL! Zaino rules, do a search on it!
