Default Oil Change

Anyone know of any good dealers, where I can take Mobil 1 and have them put it in for me? I don't want to pay $55 for the oil. I do not think I am qualified to do the oil change myself however...so any help is appreciated.

I need to do my oil change soon... you are more than welcome to do it at the same time. I've got a bit of experience wrenching on cars.

I'd suggest you learn to change it yourself. It's really simple. Raise the car, use jack stands for support. Unscrew the drain plug (12mm if i recall correctly) and let it drain. Screw it back on, unscrew the oil filter, let it drain. Screw the new one on. Pour new oil into engine. I just changed mine yesterday. In and out in under 5 minutes.

Easy, the only catch is,. you have to unbolt the plastic cover, once you take that off, its a piece of cake.

$58 for an oil change, Holy ****! I bought Mobil-1 on sale for $3.18 a quart, I bought 30 quarts!

Buy a oil wrench, a creeper/jack/jack stand combo from Pep Boys (19.95), a oil pan from Wal-Mart (BTW, Wal-mart disposes of your old oil and its free), some rags and a cheap socket wrench set.

Hardest part is taking off those 10+ bolts to remove the plastic cover. I found out that you can buy a socket wrench that attaches to a cordless drill and they come off very fast.

Hell, my 02 Maxima, I have to take my right front tire off to get to the oil filter.

I take my Chrysler to WalMart and they use Mobil1 for synthetic. I only pay $33 to have it done and watch them from the window to ensure they actually do put synthetic in. I don't know if I'd trust them with the Z.

Whatever you guys do, DO NOT skimp on the oil filter.

Mobil-1 Filter
K&N Filter
Nissan Filter
Fram double guard Filter
and there are other good ones out there. Don't buy the cheapo's the jiffy lube and Walmart puts in there!

You don't need to take off the plastic cover. Our Nissan engineers thoughtfully left an opening underneth the oil pan and filter so you can stick you hand in and get the job done.

$3.18/quart is CHEAP!! When was this sale?

Yeah but then where does the oil go? Now you have a dirty plastic oil covered cover! Trust me I tried that already, a PITA!

It drains straight down. I've done it 4 times so far, no problems. How are you jacking up the car? I only have the drivers side propped up.

Hmm...I'm going to try changing the oil without removing the cover next time. I've taken off the cover everytime, and it is the longest part of the whole process.

I've taken my previous car to Mr. Tire in Arlington and they seem decent. I think the oil change (Mobil 1) was like $30-40. Not sure on the filter they used, though

The oil filter wrench you need is, I believe 2 1/4". It's the type that fits over a socket driver. Also there are two filters available for the VQ. There is a short (standard) and a longer one. I would recommend anyone with mods get the bigger filter.

They're both here...

if anything...just go to a local autozone or supply shop and buy 5 quarts of oil and the correct filter and bring it to any shop and they would probably do it for like 10-15 dollars. at autozone there is currently a sale for 5 quarts of oil and the filter for liek 30 dollars or sumthinn i think. check it out

I would be interested, and if I recall you live really close to me, so that would make it convenient to boot. PM me with some details if the offer is still on the table to do this. Thank you in advance.
