Default console mod thread (no 56k)

ok, so here's the steps I took to mod the console:

- I attached the american international kit to the back of the console
- epoxied in the edges using a 2 part sandable epoxy
- cut a piece of plexiglass to fit in the lower din area as a surround for the dvd drive
- built up that area using bondo
- sanded so the curve matched the curve of the console
- put one layer of fiberglass mat on top of the bondo
- sanded the fiberglass and put on several thin layers of evercoat metal glaze
- shitload of sanding to remove the console texture and smooth out the molded areas

unfortunately I don't have any pics of the fiberglassing. Here's a pic of the original color scheme I had. It was SEM titanium metallic plastic and vinyl paint.

new pics:

backlighting of the deck - a bit darker than the dash lighting but still looks good.

good work man- i know the fiberglassing/body filler can be tedious. just a little too much sanding and youre back throwing some more filler, sanding again. slick mod. BTW, a little off topic but which shift **** is that?

Very nice job, I'm sure there was some serious labor involved there. I can see myself attempting this soon as I have plenty of bondo and glass in the garage.

I think the regular kits look horrible, but that's just me.
