Default Snow Tires/Dealer comments in Northern VA

After finally getting my credit union to approve my Z loan, hoping to pick up my Z this week. Wondering how many of you in the DC area bought Blizzaks or other snows for winter driving. The Z will be my daily driver, though during the week I have a one mile or so commute to the Metro station, then usually drive to the golf course after work, so no heavy lifting during the week. Just wondering with the little snow we actually get around here if its worth it. If it ever was a blizzard situation, I can always commute with my wife in her Saab.

Thoughts?

Also the car thats closest to what Im looking for is at Rosenthal Nissan Mazda in Vienna if anyone has any experiences there.

i got snow tires for the Z and I think I drove 2x's in the snow (light dustings) - never had a problem with traction but I don't know if I'm even going to bother mounting them next winter. As far as dealers, I've had nothing but good experiences with Browns Arlington Nissan. However, I have mixed feelings about Browns Fairfax Nissan. Those are the only two dealers I have dealt with.

Any advice on local stereo shops that have worked on your Z?

I know I am going to Kartunes in Sterling, VA (by Dulles Airport) as I have had a lot of recommendations from people who have gone there -- Including some Washington Redskins. BUT I am not installing a 'SHOW Piece' just bumping my system up a notch or two for clarity & volume. They have done some work with a couple of Z and are familiar both with the setup and making enclosures for subs and amps.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am looking for. This is going to be a daily driver that may need a little upgrade, but nothing earth shattering. And if I decide to go with something without the Nav, I would like to go to a shop that maybe has some Z experience that can possible put something in there.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will take a look at them.

A buddy in the area has blizzaks on his M3 and swears by them. Says they handle very well in the snow. Not sure where he picked them up..

Would I run into any problems/issues running Blizzaks when it doesnt snow that much? As everyone in this forum knows, Northern VA may or may not get snow that much between November and March. If I decide to mount them in Nov but it never really snows or warms up too much, is this going to be a major problem? I've heard such good things about the Blizzaks in cold weather/snow that I think its a good investment if it comes to that.

So while I know the stock tires get a bad rap, for right now I have to deal with what I have. Has anyone just run a better all-season tire around here and been OK in the winter? I dont drive all that much anyway in the winter, just to the Metro and back for the most part.
