Intake install
Hey guys a little feedback is in need. . . . . I just got my AEM CAI and was wondering if anyone has installed this without taking the bumper off or going underneath the car?
$100 bucks for a simple intake install is a bit rich for me, especially when I know people who have done short ram!

If you want to install the filter in the bumper as far away as possible from the engine bay, then getting under the car or removing the bumper may be the only way to go. My dealer installed my NISMO CAI (same as AEM) by raising the car and working from underneath to install the filter. A short ram obviously doesnt need that, as the filter is in the same location as the stock air box. But then it wouldn't be a CAI, it would be a short ram, and I guess you could have gotten a JWT Popcharger for a lot cheaper than your AEM CAI.
you have to take the front bumper off. Just get a 10mm socket and a extension( for the hard to get to one inside the wheel well)
takes about 20 min to get the front bumper off. Save yourself the 100 bucks.
no need to go underneath the car.

I installed one about 2 years ago without removing the bumper. Simply raise the car with a jack, loosen the front of the plastic drivers side wheel shroud and install the filter.

my boi work for nissan.... and he has access to the car lift thingie, i can talk to him for you if you want
you can put everything together except the J style pipe. Theres just no angle thatll get it in, especially w/o scratching the hel| outta it.
But with the new nismo cai has a rubberish J pipe(possible to squeeze it in???)

See what he says and let me know bud! That would be really helpful! Thanks!
I installed my AEM CAI without taking off the bumper and without jacking up the car. You can get all of the piping installed and then it's tricky (but not hard) to get your hands up under the bumper to put on the filter. You just have to take off the small splash guard under the car in front of the driver's wheel well (Step 42).
This was my first car mod and it was pretty easy. I have some install instructions and pics that I used if you want/need them. I can email the ZIP file if you PM me your email address.
Scratch that....here it is: link
