*walks out to car and rips the 440cc fuel injectors out and the upgraded in tank fuel pump....* tell me about it...for some of us daily driver F/I guys....its very hard to keep the tank full...especially if you have upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump.... i think the highest ive seen so far is....$3.50 something...the night before the gas prices shot through the roof....i drove my *** to woodbridge and filled up for $2.60 (93 octane)...im seriously considering getting a bike....pedal my way to class and work...or a crotch rocket...

oh yeah is it just me....or do you guys see alot of scooters and mopeds running around now....it seems some people are taking it to another level and just buying a cheap scooter...

another note, when i got back from class the other day, i turned on the news to check up on New Orleans and the gulf, and CNN or one of those channels had the stock's in the bottom right corner...i watched gas prices go from 2.79 to 3.10 in the matter of 10-15 minutes not even...

That's why I don't drive my eclipse. I have a level 2 16G PP,high pressure fuel pump and 550cc injectors. So, the Z has to be my daily driver.

After all these tickets I've been getting and gas prices, I'm thinking about selling the Z. I'll buy a turbo 4 banger to play with... this is ridiculous.

Next time you're at the pump cursing the prices, picture yourself sitting in a pile of your own ****, hungry and thirsty, fearing for your safety and wondering where your family is. Life ain't so bad for us folks putting gas in our cars that aren't full of salt-water.

It's all in how you look at it

That's true Kelly and that's why those money hungry gouging gas station are jacking up the price, because they know that we're going to say, "well at least we're not sitting in our own ****, hungry and thirsty so I' ll just keep my mouth shut and let them screw me. It's not hurting us because we can afford to pay, but there's some people out there that are on very tight budget who might go hungry, because of these gas prices, but I understand what you are saying.

$55.00 down the drain yesterday, literally! I've definitely changed my driving habits and consolidating trips, planning ahead, etc.

For the most part, I agree. However, I cannot subscribe to the belief that we're paying the prices we're paying simply because the gas companies saw an opportunity to financially rape the entire country out of pure and simple greed. Regardless of the state of the supply of crude oil, which may or may not be the root cause of the price increase, the ability to process it into something other than organic sludge has realistically been impaired by Katrina, and the commodities market saw the potential for that to happen and responded to it.

It is rumored that Dulles will shut down next week because their storage tanks are running dry. Is that because the Airlines are too cheap to pay the rising cost of fuel in such a heavily federally regulated market? I think not.

In any case, I stand by my earlier sentiment that it's easy to swallow the gas prices when you compare yourself to the folks living in the superdome right now, regardless of the politics behind the prices.

peace out!!!

If you're comparing the two that it is easier to pay the gas prices to what those people are dealing with , I agree, that's a given. Still doesn't justify gouging. i was coming from the Lowes last night and I notice that this gas station was charging 3.75 and the station right next to them was charging 3.09 for premium. A co- worker just told me that his cousin own a few gas station in Alabama and Georgia. His cousin told him all his tanks are full and he normally charges 2.75 for premium, but he's charging 4.75 because everyone is doing it. It's wrong , regardless of what's happening in NO, Miss. and Alam.

It's like if every morning some guy puts a gun in your back and robs you of $5 , and instead of you reporting to the police you make tthe statement, " Well, some people in other countries have it tougher than I do, so, I'm not worried about it". Robbing someone is against the law , regardless of what going own in other parts of the world, same thing with gouging, it's a crime regardless of what's happening down south.

I seriously might sell... I'm looking to pick up a 1.8T GTI or AudiTT Quattro or maybe even a cheap VW Corrado. I always loved them...

Then in the spring I will buy a Kawasaki 600RR for my speed fix.

If I sell I will probably rip off exhaust, front lip, and the dvd player... i also have veilside sides and rear to match the lip i can sell.

the custom seats, spoiler, intake mani, pulleys, etc. will have to go with it though as i'm not going through that much trouble to part it.

Just to make you guys feel better, I've just worked out the gas price per US Gallon here in the UK...

& I can confirm, you guys in the US are still getting gas far cheaper than the UK

Our 98 RON Shell Optimax is currently 98.9 pence per litre

So converting that into US gallons by multiplying by 3.7854 = £ 3.7437606 per US Gallon

Checking the currency conversions on xe.com £1 = $ 1.83588

therefore the UK is paying $ 6.87 per US Gallon

I agree 100%. Price gouging is price gouging, pure and simple. I think very few of us (myself included) understand all of the factors at play in this particulary economy. So, maybe there is a happy medium here....Some of this increase is due to real-world factors that are warranting a moderately higher price for fuel than we were paying 6 months ago, and some of it is price gouging that is likely due to the gas stations "keeping up with the joneses", which is a process that has become self-feeding.

The other to think about is that gas stations really don't make the money, it is BP, Exxon-Mobil, Shell that makes the money. Kelly is right the refining process has been hurt, as a result the future on oil is skyrocketing, because people believe that demand will severely outstrip supply here. Each gas station has to buy gas at what their respective franchise sells it at, and BP, Exxon, and others have to buy the crude at the current market price (assuming they don't have options, then they are currently buying the options at the current market price, either way they are paying a higher than normal fee).

The problem is speculation and investors wanting to get rich off of oil, those that are buying oil because it has gone up will do so untill their is some good news in the sector in which the price will come tumbling down, a la tech bubble or any other speculation run up bubble. I don't blame the gas stations, I blame speculators trying to make a quick buck.

you sure it was an o-ring and not the 5 foot concrete wall you sent the hummer through that maybe causing the leak?
