Default which is safer TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER

I've decide to go force induct, but still not sure which set up is safer for my car. So far im thinking of iether Greddy TT kit or ATI Procharger kit.

ur going to get mixed opinions on which one is better. as for safety its all a matter of tuning, both kits are capable of making power. check the forced induction forums theres plenty more info there.

First you have to decide on your power level, then decide on the best way to get there.

Any FI kit will blow your engine with a bad tune.

All FI kits can be safe with a good tune.

Bottom line, whichever route you decide to go, get a good tune, address timing, have fun.

BTW, I love my ATI setup.

I look at it like this if your looking to only make 400hp then SC is the way to go. Anything over I would go TT with motor build. guess it all comes down to how much your trying to spend.

I agree with Huducks and PumpedVA. 400hp is doable with a SC and will cost less, and like Bad monkey stated, make sure you get a good tune.

Ok you figured out your hp goal, now figure out your torque goals. A Vortech s/c with a nice exhaust and a good tune will help you reach your hp goal but you will have around 305-330 ft lbs with most of the power coming on up top. If you want more midrange grunt, and better top-end, I would go with a turbo. I personally went with the ST Turbonetics, with a few mods it will easily get me 380-400rwhp, and will pull hard up top-for the same price as a Polished Vortech kit. Remember it not just about peak numbers, but the curve under them as well Either way, like already mentioned, check your tune (a/f, timing if you can) on a dyno, get a decent set of guages to monitor vitals and your ready to go.

i have a ati procharger (7psi) and dynoed out at 377rwhp and 320tq so alberto you are way off. i have stock exhaust and running methanol injection (to prevent detonation and knocking) from snow performance. One of my buddies has the aps tt kit he has 420 rwhp with full exhaust. Both are pretty safe considering he is running 10 psi on a stock block. His boost just kicks in later then my blower, in the end its all up to because if you want 400rwhp ...both options will work ...but he spent 3 grand more ....

Everybody forgets Mr. Single Turbo..

I'm making 370 RWHP and 370 ft/lbs of torque with the Turbonetics kit and I paid mid-4K for the kit. If you're not looking to push the limits of the stock internals, this is the best bang for the buck out there, IMHO. It's a safe "out of the box" kit that with the addition of a piggyback and probably some larger injectors is good for over 400 WHP. I'm happy with where I'm at power wise, though, so "out of the box" was perfect for me.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Oh, and since you're right up the road from me, you're more than welcome to take it for a test drive and see if it's what you're looking for. We just gotta work out a time.

Reading comprehension OWNS you

I said a s/c will help him reach his 370-400 hp goal. You have 377whp. I also said the TQ compared to turbo's is low, anywhere from 305-330ft/lbs. You have 320 ft/lbs, my prediction was correct, you proved it, how the *** am I wrong?
