I just think people that take a car (an already deprecitating item) and finance more items to place onto to only have the cost of the vehicle increase maybe 20% of the total mods plus pay interest on said mods.....

Anyone that buys mods on credit and pays interest on them are complete morons.

Other than that I am doing great ..
Best of luck with the seats Dave.....

Jaun -- aren't u being a little hypocritical???

1. u purchased a NEW car (first mistake if u r really concerned with depreciation). Unless u paid cash, u financed the car. Then u dropped another $10k into mods. U then turn right around and try to sell it for about a $11-15k loss So that u can buy another sports car (depreciating asset especially with the economy slowing). In the course of about 1-2 yrs i have felt about a $10-15k loss and plan to extend ur loss even further with ur next planned purchase.

2. u go on dates and spend $ on woman with the hope of getting them to give u their assets. If u r actually luck enough to obtain the assets, they have GOT to be the fastest depreciating asset ever!!!!

If mike buys these seats it may set him back .... maybe $1k, but he is then guaranteed to have his A$$ caressed every time he gets in his car.

Can u say the same thing about every date you go on

The difference is the seats won't depreciate that much. They are rare. I'll bet if you keep them in good condition, you can sell them for the same amount whenever...or maybe a couple hundred loss at worst..

Actually I put over 75% down on my car and paid it off before the finance charges got me. Also I have a girlfriend now .... so things are great here!

Love the seats too!! Will they fit in a C6?

Wow a girlfriend! I'm impressed

I don't see why not, as long as you got seat brackets for it.

Juan,

I do not want to hijack this thread or anything. I just want to point out a few things.

A lot of us making mods are doing this as a hobby. People do not expect to make money out of hobbies as it is no different then taking a vacation, purely an expense not an asset of any real kind. If I want to take a 2 week vacation to Tahiti or I want to put a body kit on my car it costs the same. I do not expect to get my money back nor am I concerned with interest rates on my credit card or the cost of currency conversion convenience fees on my bank card. Everyone can decide how to allocate their income as they chose.

This opportunity allows people 90 days interest free. So, the company offering the group buy or sale is allowing those who do not have the necessary funds immediately on hand to participate and make the full payment at a later date. As long as the individual is aware of the future interest charges, this is a very nice feature the company is offering.

Finally, I think your closing comment is unfair in general to most people on these boards. I believe most of us are reasonably intelligent (a lot of IT and science geeks around here) enough to make knowledgeable decisions on our shopping habits. Yes the average American runs a HUGE debt to income ratio, especially in the NOVA region. We are a society of ‘I want what I want, and I want it NOW!” people we like to have it now and work on paying for it later. We do this knowingly… Consider that 50 - 75 years ago it was unheard of to buy anything on credit even houses and cars were bought with cash… Now you can not rent a car without a Credit Card.

OK, <getting off my soapbox now>
Again sorry for the hijacking D. Will not do it again

Girlfriend eh? So THAT's where you've been

Kelly - (Is glad that all of Juan's credit card debt was accumulated buying only essentials like bread and milk.)

Man a girlfriends/wives are the biggest depreciating asset a man can "own". woman are great for the first 36k miles after the warranty is up the paint job is not as nice as it used to be, the tires get a little worn, the maintanance alone can kill u, and then they start breaking down and refusing to start (get it ... refusing to start ).

All of that and if you lease them, they never hold their value and leave you owing more than they are worth or if you go as far as to marry them, they leave take 1/2.
