Well, I will try to make it to MIR tomorrow (Saturday)
I have a problem with the front drivers side wheel. Something is scraping but the thought is it is just a loose brake pad. I think I can still run with this.
I hope to get a few runs in then bolt back to AAM unless someone at the track can help me remove the wheel and check the AP brake out.
Anyway I hope to see some folks up at the track.

Best time was 12.8 with a very soft launch. With some 315 DR/s I should be able to launch a bit harder and get beter 60' times.
Good seeing you guys out. Glad I was not the only 350/G35 out there..

See you guys at the track again soon.

Here is the rundown of my best time Saturday (not my best looking launch.. but hey)
60' = 2.217
1/8 = 8.479
1/4 = 12.847
Trap = 114.04 mph
I only had one run where I got a trap of 115 and that run was slightly slower at 12.879. These were all with the TCS off, top up, boost set to about 10 PSI (approximately 502 whp uncorrected), street tires and with about 50lbs of travel stuff in the trunk. I did weigh my car after my last run and it weighed 3,800 lbs. So with me & my stuff, we were looking at roughly around 4,050 lbs total weight.
I guess experience (and wider DR tires) will help with my traction problems. I believe I should be getting in the low 12's if not 11's if I could properly hook up the wheels to the ground consistently

Any thoughts .?

Your 60ft is ok, its not impressive but its not bad how much power your pushing. What really shocks me is your lack of trap speed and 1/8 time. I would like to know your 1/8 speed. Judging by your 1/8 time, after launching in 1st, you either:A) Never gained traction till 4th gear, meaning you were spinning to 80+mph or
B) Shift really slow, because with so much power even with what I would consider a slow shift, you should be WAY faster. For comparison with a .3 faster 60ft i ran the same 1/8 NA, so with nearly 2X the power you should have at the worst made up for it in 3rd gear. I think your 1-2 and 2-3(maybe your 3-4 also) need serious work.
Congrats on 12's though you are running faster. I know its not easy putting down 502whp, but the car should pull harder in 3rd, 4th and 5th-Ive seen other TT guys spinning to mid 12's @ 120ish mph, where you should be. Keep practicing. BTW, my slicks would never fit over your rear brakes, they are fing huge, I saw your car at AAM getting the hood pins on....
Edit-btw with a 1.6 60ft, you rcar would be VERY low 11's high 10's. I know you are far from that and may think "no f'ing way" but given your whp its very possible. I should be 11's or 12 flat with less than 400whp....

Alberto, any tips/suggestions are appreciated. I know my times suck and I know my launching sucks. I thought I had the shifting down, but hey, who knows…. Maybe I need to get one of those in cockpit camera so I can actually watch what I am doing after the fact and see where I am shifting.
On that run my 1/8 was 88.9mph. My best was on another run as follows.
Run 6 Run 3
R/T 0.546 0.7
60' 2.3 2.217
330' 5.777 5.707
1/8 mile 8.548 8.479
1/8 mph 90.43 88.9
1000' 10.914 10.866
1/4 mile 12.879 12.847
1/4 mph 115.05 114.04
(I hate the way this damn things will not hold indents or spaces like a standard document)
I can tell this time I had more problems being consistent. Last time every run I got better in all times/numbers. This time run 3 had the best 60’, 1/8 and ¼ times but in Run 6 I had the best 1/8 mph and ¼ mph.
If I recall (I do tend to get caught up in the moment) I am either finishing in 4th gear (highly unlikely) or I am in 6th. Maybe I am shifting early. When do you shift… 7K - 8K?
I know my 1-2 and possibly my 2-3 shifts could use some work but had not thought about it soo much. I have been concentrating on getting the launch down and trying to improve my reaction time.
Yea, I know slicks are out of the question. But I think we have found some 18’s and 315 DR that will work.
Thanks again for your thoughts man.

Ok well with a trap of 90mph in the 1/8 and 115mph down the 1/4 your car is pulling well. Most Z's pull about 21-22mph the 2nd 1/8 mile. I shift at 7100rpm for the 1-2, after that 6700rpm's works for me. Past that we really dont make usable power and are better off shifting where we would have more power in the next gear than winding it out. What do you shift at? What is your redline? Try 7100rpm's on the 1-2, and 6600-6800rpm's for everything after. With a 115mph trap and a raised rev limiter you should be finishing in 4th. At stock redline 4th gear goes to 112mph @ revlimiter. You should be into 5th gear with your power levels though, you def shouldnt be finishing in 6th unless you trap 142mph(redline in 5th)+
What is happening when you shift from 1-2? Im sure you get a little spin, but is it a ton? What about 3-4? I figure with a 2.2 60ft, an easy, but efficient shift to 2nd and good shifts(not powershifting) from then on, you should have no problem going low 12's @ 120ish on 19's. More seat time will get you better results.
Edit-btw what kind of rear tires do you run on and at what psi?

Yea, I have a feeling I am shifting too late and losing some of the pull through the higher rpms…(wondering if I should consider changing the gear ratio and if so how that would effect street drivability) I am not really sure where I am shifting, but I know it feels like I am around the upper 7’s. BUT I believe my redline is supposed to be set around 7200 rpm, maybe as high as 7600..
The more I think about it, I must be in 4th at the end of the run, I know towards the end of the run I am pulling the shifter down so it must be 4th
As for 1-2, I am not sure. I don’t think I am spinning but that would make a lot of sense. I am very sure I am not getting any spin after that, 2-3-4.
I need an in-car video and someone to catch the start of my run on video from the stands..
Tires are 19x275 Toyo T1s deflated to 25.5 PSI last Saturday. No burnouts. (I have a heck of a time trying to figure out that trick with the 6-mt).

Anything past 7000rpm(past 1st gear), on a FI Z with as much power as you on stock block/cams/intake manifold is a waste. Next time, you need to watch closely what you shift at!!
1-2 @ 7100
2-3 @ 6700
3-4 @ 6600 Now you have 2 options:
At first Id try rolling through the lights in 4th-this will be past stock redline.
Then when you get to the point where your reaching past 7000rpm's in 4th BEFORE you cross through the traps, start hitting 5th at 6600rpm's. No burnouts needed on street tires, just go around the water box, give them a few seconds of a cluth drop spin to clean them off, your good to go. Good luck, I look forward to seeing your results.
* PAY ATENTION TO SHIFT POINTS!!!
Edit-BTW a 5AT pumpkin swap would give you longer gears and maybe help you hook up a little, but even with the longer gears you should still be in 5th crossing through the traps when your figure everything out, so I would stick with what you have...
