Moving to Richmond (VCU), Enlighten Me Richmond People Please!!
Hey guys, I know a lot of you live in the Richmond area. I'll hopefully will be moving there in August to attend VCU. Never actually been to the place ever since 5 years a go. I know maybe a lot of stuff has changed but I'm still hearing the negative comments here and there.
Anyhow me and 2 of my friends are coming down on Thursday to look at some housing and apartments close to the campus/ do some orientation for school and get some Counseling paper work. Trying to live a little bit on a easier side rather then the whole Dorm life. Being almost 20/22/19 years old, those little 18 years bastards coming out of HS could annoy you at times. So me and two of the friends have decided to get an apartment. I've been getting a few quotes and it seems as though a 2bedroom house and 2 private bathroom go anywhere from 700-900 as lease.
Anyways I was wondering the people who live close by to the VCU campus would know anything about housing there and would recommend any apartments. Keep in mind the Z will be coming with me hopefully if things go well with the Insurance and I need somewhere safe. Also two of my friends have a BMW 330CI and another has a Modded Integra that he put a lot of work into. So you can say our car's parking spot is pretty important, specially me since my car is lease.
So any suggestions are welcomed and also any restaurants you guys recommend for us to go to since will be coming there from morning till late afternoon.

I know there is an "off topic" section, but some people seem to take a little too far.
Good Luck in Richmond, if you go.

The only off street parking I know is at the Warsaw. It is condos located in the block of Main, Harvie, Plum, and Floyd, about 2 blocks from main VCU buildings. It is mostly older people. No idea what the rent would be.
Elephant Thai at Cary and Harrison is great Thai food.
If you autocross, look us up. We have several Zs that are regulars in B stock. www.vmsc.org

you will not make it!!! lol ghetto. i remember my bro telling me a story from his vcu days: him and his friend shined a laser pointer down to the street one night from the dorms and watched as people ran for their lives. really mean but kinda really funny too
i went to VCU for my freshmen but end up packin and ran back to Mason after the first semester. OoOoo how i can still remeber the 10x10 feet dormroom with and the fear of gettin mug walkin home from class everynight, haahah very good experience.

Yeah parking is a pain. And you will get many door dings and bumper taps. Like WaHoo said, try two block back on floyd or ever behind the Ukrops on W. Grace Street. I know lots of people park there and walk b/c I had the hardest time finding a spot when my girl lived right there. Or you can always resort to buying the pass for the parking deck. Not sure how much that is but I recommend just parking and walking! If you are looking for apts check this link out > here < It's the schools apt database. don't scare the man, that place ain't ghetto. . . . . it's just like any other city, hmmmm well kinda!
I must add though, don't expect the housing around the school to have central air (some do), or an electric stove or level floors (etc). Those buildings around are older buildings. My girl lives around the 2400 block, closer to the belvidere ave and I have seen an M3, Maserati and 7series BMW parked out there nightly. Theft is everywhere down there including in cheap cars, which I have seen several broken into but my Z was straight.
