wow...it does suck...I'm glad I watch those guys...I go there...I go to a Jiffy Lube run by a HUGE nissan enthusiast. He (seems) to love seeing the new things that I've done to my car.

Synthetic oil only...

Default I used too but never again...

Went to the Jiffy Lube in College Park during my college days until the management changed. The old manager was a cool guy who always had customers watch the start of each service to ensure that work is actually being done to the car. He then inspected every job with the customer. This was done even when there was a line of cars waiting. The guy left, service quality dropped, then I left and never came back.

Nowadays, I go to a family owned shop in Frederick that specializes in foreign cars and is a TireRack certified shop. Foreign Auto Excellence takes care of my daily ride, a 99 Accord EX-V6 sedan. The owner, Alan, is a Subaru and BMW specialist. His techs are former long time Honda/Acura guys as well as other Japanese make guys. I get awesome service even though my dealership gave awesome service. FAE is closer and a bit cheaper. My brother-in-law even takes his newer Acura TL there.

Moral of the story - Find a small shop you can trust! FAE and AAM are rarities. Support them and they will support you. I hope they never go out of business.

It's not just Jiffy Lube, it's ALL car shops, they just happen to hit a big chain.

I'm glad I don't take my car to that a-hole place.
I watch and stay with my car when a work is done. I don't trust any shops.

writing a letter and refunding the money doesnt justify the fact that hundreds of other people were robbed..

I'm on dial up service and can't get the linked video. Can you tell me what Jiffy Lube this is and what happened?

Fortunately I take my cars to the dealer, who we've been very satisfied with.

Just to let you know dealer's steal too, I got a buddy who lets me in on the inside scoop. People get lazy and sometimes mechanics would rather not work on your car since they can get away with most of it.

This should be a big message especially to us on the forums that if you can do the work yourself learn how and do it. If you can't I would definitely find someone you trust who can or watch them while they do it.

Just imagine if they caught this many randomly how many people are getting stiffed everyday around the country!
