Angry Hampton Roads Z Owners what would you do????

Alright just to fill a few of you in. Almost a month ago I woke up one saturday morning my Z was hit by some unknown driver on the drivers side and scraped it up (the damage wasn't that bad but then again this car is like a baby to me so Im sure you all understand how pissed I was ). So I went to my insurance company and had to pay 200 bucks for it which wasn't so bad and Ive been driving a rental (Pontaic grand prix.....) since I drop it off at the body shop (Hall Automotive Body Shop on Western Branch in Chesapeake) on June 26.

Fast forward to today, I recieved a call saying that my car would be ready and I can pick it up around 6. It was suppose to be done on Monday but for some reason... It was ready today, thursday. So I walk in and get the keys and go take a look at it. The body work is Great and the paint matches but I did notice that the clear protective film by the rear wheel on the sideskirt wasn't installed. No big deal they forgot about it. So the lady in office tells me to pull it around, So I walk to my car and get in, As Im about to start it I notice that my passenger seat has been moved up and adjusted like a person had been riding in it. So I start my car and my mileage is 18,964 and I thought to myself thats off I was that close to 19K I know that. So I check to see if the miles were recording when the work began, according to the invoice when they started work on the car the miles were 18,596. Also to add on to that the fine powder that they use when the paint a car was all over my interior in the hatch area covered it.

So basically while they have had my car for about a week and half they manage to put +300 Miles on it and there was no reason for the car to leave the lot considering the shop is there and they were removing panels. So I flipped out on the 2 people that were there, since they were past their closing time. The manager is suppose to give me a call tomorrow at some point.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO SEEK COMPENSTATION FOR THIS????????

who did you talk to. I have had no problem with them. this is not like them at all. This is the shop that is going to take care of my car for free. It has to be some little **** on worker. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of this and pay you out for it if not take them to court. Sorry to hear about someone other than your self enjoying your car and wishing it was theirs. ..

Get a lawyer, there was no need for them to drive your car.

I definately will record a video of the mileage before It leaves the lot period, I atleast need to get them to pay the deductible, the cost of my rental, engine diagnostics cause whoever drove it probably beat the **** out of it, any repairs that are necessary from that diagnostic (Im thinking whoever it was probably ****ed my clutch away).

Buts thats just to start cause after get ****ed like that, their gonna get ****ed even worse that I promise them

dude ... some f--ker has been posing in your ride .... just to vent something similar (not nearly as bad). I found out about a week or two after I bought my roadie that some 19 year old punk (btw i'm 28) who owns a SRT-4 test drove it before me with absolutely no intention of buying it The kid works with my GF and he told her after he saw me driving it.

side note: I also just found out the little shyt just got pulled over doing 120 in a 55 mph karma's a b!tch

hopefully some good karma will swing your way ...

This has been happening a lot lately... someone over on evom.net had the same **** happen with his Evo. My advice... when you talk to the SM, be polite and calm... they'll take you VERY SERIOUSLY as opposed to someone flipping out on them. They should resolve it. If not, get a lawyer, contact BBB and get in touch with your insurance company. They'll drop them off the list of authorized businesses they'll pay to have work done at. And make sure that the SM knows what you plan on doing if they don't help you out... they don't want to lose the business.

I would also tell him (this may not be that big of a threat) you're part of a internet forum with over 60,000 members ... and if the issue isn't resolved you'll be forced to blast the company's name causing punitive damages

UPDATE:

So I went in this evening to talk to the body shops manager about the issue. In a nice calm manner, didn't raise my voice once even though I wanted too, I plead my case to see what she had to say about the some 360 or so miles that were added on to the car. Her response was that since the mileage she had was 4 or 5 days before the work started that I put the miles on the car which I didn't at all I drove the car from the dealership home and then back to drop it off. Her second answer to the question was that maybe the insurance claim guy wrote the mileage down wrong on his paper which isn't likely cause I watched him do it during the estimate. So she claims that there is no way possible that someone could of drove it period. So I disagreed with her and told her that I want the 200 I paid for the deductable refunded due to this issue, and she said the best she could do was a 50 dollar refund. So on that note I took the keys and the car and told her that I will be in touch her next week to solve this issue and left cause I was going to flip at that moment.

Note also when I got in my car there were grease stains all along my headliner for ****s sakes and they lost one of the clips for the cargo net in the hatch, just disappeared.

Also keep in mind im not knocking the company the body work was great, Im pissed about the unexplainable miles that were put on since they conviently didn't log the miles or the gas level down when they started the work.

So next step navy legal, BBB, and we will see where it goes from there cause I believe that the manager of the body shop thinks im bull****ting and that im just gonna sit back but thats not how business should be done period.

I hope you get this resolved in your favor! Sucks I know, something similar happen to me which they trashed the tranny. They put in a new one without a hassle but I still ran into other issues later on with the engine.

For future reference; My neighbor's son works in the detail area for the Checkered Flag Toyota dealership on VB Blvd. He's told me that they as well as most of the others (mechs, gofers, etc...) regularly take nice cars out and race them; against others or just for the hell of it. And not just their shop does this, he said about every shop you go to some of the staff will take a cruse in the cars as if it is their toy of the day/hour..

When I've taken my Z into the shop as of late I tell them for no reason should my car leave the premises and that they need to call me and let me know if they do. Also, you have to make an issue of the mileage when they write it down. When you get your car back, do a walk around and check everything. I've seen mechanics cover up mistakes so that they wouldn't get in trouble or fired; busted the wind and glued it back on (Priority Toyota in Chesapeake)
