Default Anyone with stock injectors pronto?

Dealer wants to charge me $1450 to install 6 new injectors...

I'd pay someone here like $500 to install 6 used oem injectors for me...

PM Me ASAP.

(Symptoms of my problem are a rough running vehicle with tons of white smoke and gas running out of the exhaust tailpipes at some points...)

Alberto,

Where in MD are you? I drove to AAM before in about 1.5 hours...

I'd rather not give Nissan $1500 to switch somethign so simple out... Just seems like a huge waste of $.

If it takes more than $500 to get you to come over, I'd consider it. Anything beats $1500.

Let me know man.

Alberto,

I have access to other vehicles (parents Saturn, etc.) and I'm driving that for now, so this can kind of wait. I'll be out of town Thursday - Sunday of this week also, so it wouldn't be a big deal.

I'm going to keep looking for any help I can get, but if I can't round anyone up, I'd definitely pay you $500 plus if I had to, to do the job for me maybe the weekend of the 23rd/24th?

Like I said, anything to save $1000 from the damn Nissan scammers.

So what was the story with the white smoke? 6 bad fuel injectors? How do you destroy fuel injectors?

The story is 2 bad injectors... Nissan wanted to install all 6 to "be safe". Plus the price differential between 2 and 6 was minimal...

I'm looking to round up some used injectors on these boards and someone to help with the install...

I don't know how injectors go bad (bad fuel?), but supposedly there were 2 'clogged' ones.

Ok, we'll work it out. If you can find somebody local to do it (its easy) it will be easier and cheaper, let me know if you need stock injectors...

Alberto,

Yeah, I'm trying to find someone local to at least lend me a hand. I've tore down a couple 4 cylinder engines (Civic, Neon) prior, but never the VQ.

I don't see any injectors for sale on the boards recently although I am going to keep looking, so I may need yours.

How much would you want for all 5? Maybe I can get these shipped and just work on the labor myself, or find someone else.

Then I'll keep you in mind in case I don't want to attempt the task alone. Like I said, if it took $500 in labor/travel charges for you to help out, it would be $1500 at Nissan.

Especially if this isn't the root cause of my problems... The last thing I need is to install these injectors and still have an issue. Then I'm out $1500 plus another couple thousand to fix the 'real problem'.

All 6 are good, but I dropped 1 and the very top of it is cracked, so I wouldnt trust it. You can have them all for $100 shipped if you like...if you can swap an intake plenum you can do the injectors, its only 4 bolts holding the fuel rails down....keep me posted.

Sucks that the 6th injector was dropped... I'll probably jump on these by the end of tonight. I'm just going to try to find a set of 6 first. If I can't, I'll get on these for $100 shipped and paypal you before I head on vacation tomorrow night.

I'll keep you up to date (on the purchase and the labor situation).

No problem, you know which cylinders are bad, so Id buy 5 or all 6 and only swap the 2, and have extras...

When looking at the front

5 6
3 4
1 2

Sounds good man. I'll keep you up to date. Some dude just posted back to my WTB in the Marketplace, so I may be able to get all 6. If not, I'll take your 5 as noted.

Now just to clarify your diagram, however. 5/6 cylinders are on the front of the block, correct?

5/6 are near the firewall, 1/2 are closest to you when standing in front of the motor...

Ok, glad I clarified that...

I was thinking 1/2 should be on the front and were on the 'front' when I looked at my PC screen; But when you named them off "from the front" it led me to believe 5/6 may be on the front of the block.

Anyway, looks like I rounded up 6 injectors for $125 shipped shipped from TX. If the deal falls through Bert, I'll grab yours.

Keep you up to date on the labor situation as well...

The WTB just went through about 10 mins ago. I called the guy up (who apparently owns a shop) and he said he just took them off a TN Z with 10-15k on them. I should have them from TX by Monday... Thanks anyways fellas.

Anyone got any more input on the situation in general? What would cause two injectors to just fail/clog at the 'flick of a switch'?

Can I handle self-install? What else should i replace with the injectors (these come with o-rings)? Will I run into any issues uninstalling the Kinetix plenum and reinstalling it (seeing as it has a gasket adhered to it?)? Is injectors really my problem or am I going to fix this only to see bigger issues?

The guy who sold me the injectors said its a 2 hour job, 3 if you reallllly take your time...

2 hours!! No way, first time being very careful no more than 1 hour 20 min. You can reuse both upper and lower plenum gaskets I have 3 diff times, just be careful with the lower plenum gasket its very delicate and can get bent out of shape quick. All you need for the job is a 10mm socket w/extension, and some pliers for the lines running into the upper plenum. Itsa very simple process. Use oil as lube when you go to put the new injecters in the fuel rails, they will slide right in. Dunno why you would have 2 clogged injectors, have you tried running some injector/fuel system cleaner??
