Question rear tire leaking air

Hey guys,

I just got off work and saw that my tire was halfway flat. I stopped at the gas station and tried to add some air then heard the leak. I bought some fix a flat and added that and was able to get home. Now the question is, can I get a nail puncture repaired? If I get it repaired will it be safe to drive on? I guess in the long run, I'm going to have to replace the tire, but I would not like to right now if I dont have to since its a 20" tire.. $$$ Thanks

yes you can,but make sure you tell the person repairing the tire you put fixaflat in it.fixaflat is flammable.they might also charge you more because of the fixaflat.and yes it will be safe, but do not let anybody plug the tire, make sure its patched.

NTB destroyed my rims, go to reputable shop if u're dealing with 20's... most shops dont even mount 20's in general!

correction: Fixaflat's new formula is NOT flammable

Thumbs up

I got the tire patched today at Radial Tire in Silver Spring, MD. They did not even charge me becuase I purchased the tires from them. Should I look into replacing the tire any time soon? There is plenty of tread left. I did however shred a little bit of the tires on the inside but it didn't look like much when the tech showed me.

A reputable shop may repair a flat. Depending on where the hole is. If it is in the tread, yes. If it is in the sidewall, no.

And yes, a properly repaired tire is safe.

Patches and plugs work great for daily use. However, when a tire is patched or plugged the structural integrity of the tire has been compromised. How much, depends on the location of the effected area. On a normal vehicle with a standard DOT approved tire, this is normally not an issue. But in the case of high performance tires, you no longer have your speed rating.
