cai info perf issues
tonight the weather in dc became nice and chilly at a 36 degree register on my G. i was hitting the highway and it seemed that 1st revved REALLY hard and quicker than usual. it got me thinking that maybe my motor is pulling timing bc of the pop charger and its inhalation of hot underhood engine air. does anyone think that the nismo CAI or full injen CAI is a better NA set up than the poop charger and z-tube? does anyone know where I could get a kit to extend my ztube and pop charger into the front bumper so i dont have to buy more bull**** and sorta "build" my own CAI?

The revs are inconsistent with the HAI. JWT poop charger doesn't have adequate insulation. Build your own with insulation from Home Depot. I had the short ram Injen and it sucked lots of hot air so I took it out. It sounded cool with it on and the imaginary hp but I felt the power loss after doing a few WOT. But like many other threads mentioned, I Dyno higher with just an exhaust on 19s then 3 or 4 other guys with full bolt ons and 18s.

I'm not sure about the G, but it is a waste of money IMO and I got my Injen free from a guy who's Z gargled water with the full tubed intake. I don't mean to scare you but his car became salvaged as a result.

CAI with a plenum/spacer doesnt work well. If you run a spacer, run the intake under the hood. Im not a fan of CAI's on these cars because the tube is so long it affects throttle response. Dyno tests on my car revealed CAI sucks a$$ compared to the Pop-cahrger-but what do I know?

you get VERY LITTLE to zero N/A gains w/o an ecu reflash or utec tuning... some ppl lose HP w/ bolt-ons. (My friend had a full list of bolt-ons, popcharger, spacer, crawford headers, pullies, catback, test-pipes and beat a stock Z by 1 car length cuz he didnt have a tune) Most bolt-ons change the exhaust note and gains are strictly imaginary. With what Alberto said about the plenum + CAI, it's true, you LOSE hp, dyno proven. Popcharger + spacer is better, please don't get a CAI.
