Default Ticket Numero Dos -- Just used up all my luck for the year

Well since the Mid-A has been pretty dead lately I thought I'd liven it up at my expense.

Since it was drop top weather out I decided to take my Roadster to work and do some "spirited" driving.

I got a pulled over on rt 28 heading south about a 1/4 mile before the route 50 exit.
When I saw the lights behind me I first thought "there's no way he clocked me". If anyone knows route 28, there's a stretch between the Toll road and 50 that's straight as an arrow and flat as a pancake. Cops never try to shoot radar because you can literally see them a mile away.

Turns out he clocked me at the Dulles toll Road exit. It took him 3 1/2 miles to catch up to me . Luckily the "spirited" driving part didn't get started until after he clocked me. Otherwise I might be in jail right now and not able to post this thread.

(2nd) Luckily he was a State Trooper and not a FFX County cop. Final damage 75 in a 55, no reckless driving, prepaid $150 ticket.

When he came up to my drivers side showing me the radar gun he said
"do you realize how long it took for me to catch up to you ? you must have been going pretty fast ..."
me:" uh I really don't know sir".

Are there any advantages to a prepaid ticket? Less points, etc.?

I don't think we have those here in PA... And I think I should know after 4 tickets and a lost license for 65 days.

The fine is less ... also if you're forced to go to court you're usually in a lot more trouble.

Never thought I would hear anyone thanking a cop for a ticket.

Considering it could have been a **** load worse ... uh reckless driving, highly exceeding the speed limit, license revoke, car impoundment, and oh yeah no font license plate (how did I forget that one?)

it's the least I could do.

Damn Karl

You did get lucky...

I rank State Troopers and FFX county in the same ball ark... both are very hard to "negotiate" with.

Consider yourself lucky he did not slap more than the ticket you got

He actually was really cool. Didn't get mad at me or anything. If I was swerving in and out of traffic I think his tone might have been different.
He even said "I know it's nice out and you don't have to keep your car pegged down to 55 just watch your speed next time."

haha I think I even heard him comment that I have a nice car ...

If you get a ticket in VA the Cop can either say "you have to go to court for this" or "you don't have to go to court you can pre-pay by calling this telephone #"

usually it's $5 for every mile over the speed limit plus $50 in processing fees. People mostly go this route because it's less hassle and usually $50 cheaper than if you went to court. Sometimes the Judge (even if you plead guilty) can slap you with a steeper fine because he/she wanted to make an example of you on that particular day.

It was the weather for it today, wasn't it. Sucks about the ticket! Was running at WOT for quite a bit myself. Ever since I put that Valentine in, I'm fearless (big mistake, I'm sure). Oh well, $150 for the thrill. Live and learn (not)!

Atleast Sterling Blvd will getting rid of its light now that the overpass is almost done. The light is my only nemesis when I'm coming home from Fairfax. Should be good for your morning commute.

No lights + straight shot home= A good chance of getting away when you run next time.

Had I known he clocked me that far back I could easily have gotten off at the next exit before I got pulled over (it was about a mile back). Oh well, I'm not going to let it ruin my day ... too nice out for that.

I took my Z to work today, because weather was good. I use 28 every day - glad I missed that cop though!
