People who sold their modded cars in this area?
For the most part, did you get what you wanted? I know a lot of people part it out. I don't want to part **** out. When I sell, they'll be getting everything, including all the factory parts I have.
depends what parts you have, i tend to notice ppl who have modded cars and especially turbo cars never sell their cars because the prospective buyer always looks for a stock Z. The Z in itself is already deemed as a car where the owner would do some "spirited" driving; seeing a modded one only causes the potential buyer to think, "driven VERY spirited!" Theoretically, who wants to own a car that's been trashed to hell by someone else? However I'm not accusing you of driving that hard or abusing your car, but just a heads up that it might be your best interest to post a FS: thread here listing all your parts and giving the option of whoever buys it to uninstall it for you and pay the difference. Therefore, you can sell your car in stock form, get extra cash, and not have to do any work!
It just really depends on the buyer or how modded your car is. When I go to sell mine I will certainly not part it out and I will actually ask for a lot more but then again when I go to sell everything will be custom. My car is custom painted, Mastergrade widebody, Murcielago headlights, custom wheels, aftermarket suspension, custom interior w/ roll cage, and will have an RB26DETT. It really just depends on the level of mods. A turbo kit or much more than a CAI and exhaust will or could depreciate the value of your car due to a potential buyer thinking that you beat the h*ll out of it. One thing if you do part out, you must take off is springs (if you have any) I hear that springs will really lower the cost especially if you try to trade it in.

I sold my s2000 on ebay, it sold real quick. The interior was essentially stripped, and I had a whole bedroom full of spare parts.

General rule of thumb when selling a modded car....Total up the cost of your mods MINUS LABOR, and multiply by .25 to .33, depending on mod. Add that to the KBB/NADA private party price, and that's a reasonable number to ask for the car. In other words, it's better to part out AS LONG AS you're not spending more to rip the car apart than you will make by selling them separately. Let's face it, the modded car market is MUCH smaller than the regular car market and many people don't want the headaches associated with unsupported parts, no warranty, etc.
